The Opportunity:

The Director of Partnership Business Development is responsible for growing TrueCar’s affinity partner portfolio. The ideal candidate will identify, negotiate and establish new strategic partnerships with corporate brands,  associations, credit unions, media companies, and other organizations that align with our TrueCar growth plans for affinity partnerships. This role will report directly to the VP, Head of Partnerships. 

How you’ll contribute to TrueCar’s success:

  • Identify and prioritize organizations, brands, and banks that would be impactful additions to our affinity network – specifically by driving website traffic to TrueCar.com and car sales. 
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective partners through proactive outreach and relationship building and management. 
  • Develop a go-to-market strategy that includes qualifying prospects, developing pitch materials, identifying the right contacts, establishing relationships, presenting, and – ultimately – closing partnership deals with new affinity organizations
  • Grow and maintain relationships with senior key players and executives with affinity partners. 
  • Lead negotiation efforts and collaborate with internal stakeholders to finalize partnership agreements. 
  • Work with cross-functional teams like product, marketing, engineering, analytics, creative, dealer sales, and operations to drive the implementation of partnership programs and initiatives to ensure successful integration and launch. 
  • Monitor and analyze partnership performance metrics, providing regular reporting and insights to senior leadership. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market developments to identify new opportunities. 
  • Work collaboratively with our affinity partner account management  teams to support the ongoing needs of our affinity partnerships by taking the initiative in problem-solving issues as they arise. 
  • Develop trusting relationships and open communication, while accepting feedback (up and down). 

Your Expertise: 

  • Proven senior leadership experience in strategic partnership business development, or related roles with an established network of contacts within affinity groups, associations, or related organizations. 
  • Proven track record of successfully identifying and executing partnership opportunities that have driven business growth. 
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to navigate complex partnership agreements. 
  • Clear, informative and persuasive communications skills with the ability to present complex information to a broad audience. 
  • Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial attitude, and relentless at finding creative ways to grow the affinity partner business. 
  • Strong analytical mind with the ability to analyze and curate various data inputs to provide informative and impactful recommendations that drive business decisions and results.
  • Self-driven and comfortable in a fast-changing, dynamic environment with aggressive schedules
  • Demonstrates a powerful combination of the will to win and drive for business results mixed with a likable, warm, and kind interpersonal style capable of inspiring teams to perform to their maximum potential.
  • Ability to travel by airplane or car including overnight trips up to 50% of the time.

Base salary + incentive: $225,000 - $275,000
