Director, Payer Partnerships 

Alma is seeking a Director, Payer Partnerships to drive relationships with new and existing payers to drive the growth and success of these partnerships. Collaborative partnerships with payers and other strategic healthcare partners are central to Alma’s mission to simplify access to high-quality in-network mental healthcare. In this role, you’ll play an essential role in making therapy more affordable and accessible to individuals seeking care. 

The Director, Payer Partnerships is responsible for developing and implementing relationship plans with designated external partners to understand their needs and support solutions to meet those needs. This role will work cross-functionally to develop processes and efficiencies and collaborate with internal teams to ensure partner success through assessing the needs of partners, Alma’s business goals, and finding solutions to deliver value internally and externally. Working closely with the VP of Payer Strategy, this role will also oversee the development of new strategic partner alliances to contribute to company-wide results. 

What you’ll do:
  • Drive Alma’s relationships with our payers and other strategic partners to align on goals and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Implement new processes to define the overall success of the relationship with our payer partners.  
  • Build and deepen relationshipsacross large, matrixed payer organizations.
  • Identify, prioritize, and develop mutually beneficial opportunities that facilitate both Alma's and the partners’ business goals.
  • Present Alma’s value proposition to existing and new potential partners to drive future opportunities and steer partner satisfaction. 
  • Develop and deliver strategic partner business plans and operating calendars for each assigned partner.
  • Partner closely with internal cross-functional teams including Insurance Operations, Marketing, and Product Engineering to address and represent their needs and objectives to existing payer partners. 
  • Increase Alma’s awareness and relevance with key stakeholders including payer matrix partners, payer clients, and other health care delivery partners through industry and client conferences, events, and trainings. 
  • Demonstrate a broad comprehension of behavioral health market trends, industry challenges, key stakeholders, relevant products, and technologies.
Who you are:
  • You have 5+ years of experience in the payer space, managing large health plan accounts, preferably in behavioral health.
  • You have a proven track record of success building relationships in highly matrixed healthcare payers organizations to maximize value creation.
  • You have great business perspective, can anticipate future trends, and can develop innovative solutions to support Alma’s business and our payer and strategic relationships. 
  • You are able to organize and build consensus with internal and external stakeholders to implement solutions, resolve problems, and measure success. 
  • You can effectively communicate a compelling and inspired vision that drives winning outcomes for our payer partners and internal teams. 
  • You are able to travel. You will travel 10-20% of your role where you will attend industry conferences and payer day trips.

Salary Band: $160,000-$180,000 

Alma’s compensation philosophy is driven by our company value of building equity. To best ensure pay equity, we typically bring in new hires near the middle of our listed salary bands and we do not negotiate our compensation (i.e. all people hired at the same level & role are brought in at the same salary, equity, and benefits).
