Job Description

The Director, People Strategy will function as part of the JM Family HR Leadership team and will be responsible for partnering with the business to pursue complex people opportunities and aligning workforce solutions to business strategy. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead large complex organizational change initiatives through effective influence-based leadership while championing our culture and core values.

In this role, the Director, People Strategy will provide HR thought partnership and connect with the business as a strategic people consultant and trusted advisor. With a strong business / HR-Organization Effectiveness (OE) acumen and influence, the role will orchestrate resources to achieve desired results. The Director, People Strategy's Day will span many activities including serving as a dot connector and thought partner, guiding leadership development, and providing strategic consulting all while championing our people programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with HR COEs and business leaders to determine the people implications of business strategy. Drive workforce outcomes that best position the business for success.
  • Develop a holistic people strategy and supporting roadmap, with a focus on workforce planning, OE, talent planning, and development.
  • Stay abreast of industry and workforce trends that may impact people strategy or uncover opportunities to drive differentiated HR programs.
  • Review workforce data and analytics to identify long-range workforce opportunities.
  • Manage portfolio and prioritize business unit people strategy initiatives. Uncover root causes of problems and design thoughtful, timely solutions that align with business strategy. Assess, diagnose, and recommend tools and resources that align with business issues/opportunities.
  • Serve as the business's primary point of contact for strategic partnership, assembling teams from COEs to accomplish objectives.
  • Quickly evaluate and develop agile, iterative strategies for implementing strategic project work, opportunities, and/or recommendations. Navigate the organization and leverage internal and external partners.
  • Lead implementation of talent management and workforce planning strategies in partnership with HR COEs.
  • Provide leadership coaching to critical leaders in the business and actively drive leader development.
  • Connect emerging research and thinking to people challenges and leadership opportunities. Develop data-based insights to influence strategic talent-related decisions.
  • Serve as a trusted and active team member on the People Strategy team, providing expertise and guidance in partnership with leaders and HR.
  • Lead a specialty focus area and function as a subject matter expert in capabilities such as workforce data & insights, change management, talent planning, and organization design.
  • Provide partnership in senior leader selection and onboarding, strategically engaging with external and internal partners throughout the process.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources or human capital strategy required.
  • Consulting or leadership experience in a combination of any of the following areas preferred: human resources, organizational effectiveness, automotive, strategy and technology.
  • Demonstrated experience with Senior Level Leadership, negotiating and consultation.
  • Demonstrated experience making significant decisions, judgments, and recommendations. Strong ability to identify, communicate and/or make trade-off decisions.
  • Experience in business relationship management, inclusive of consulting, issue diagnosis and educating leaders on a wide variety of HR programs.
  • Demonstrated abilities in developing strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and leading at both the strategic and operational level.
  • Forward thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
  • Experience making data driven decisions including the ability to locate appropriate data sets and arrange the data in a way that creates a compelling story.
  • Ability to create and foster strong cross-functional networks and provide strategic consulting.
  • Highly skilled at building trust and influence, driving for results with and through people.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead projects to successful completion.
