About the position:

Location: Mountain View, CA


Fluence Energy is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Director of Platform Development to lead our cutting-edge technology initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving the strategy, design, and execution of our platform development projects, ensuring that Fluence Energy remains at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute a comprehensive platform development strategy that aligns with Fluence Energy’s overall business objectives.

• Provide visionary leadership and guidance to the platform development team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to identify and prioritize key technology initiatives that will drive growth and efficiency.


Technical Oversight

• Oversee the architecture, design, and development of robust, scalable, and secure platforms.

• Ensure that all platform development projects adhere to best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, and integrate relevant advancements into Fluence Energy’s platform development roadmap.


Project Management

• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact platform development projects on time and within budget.

• Implement effective project management methodologies to ensure transparency, accountability, and successful project outcomes.

• Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues or roadblocks promptly to maintain momentum.


Team Development

• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of platform development professionals.

• Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.

• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth and development.

What an ideal candidate brings to Fluence:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in platform development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex platform development projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong technical expertise in software architecture, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies is highly desirable.
