Job Description

Wowza is looking for an experienced Product leader with in-depth knowledge of the Online Video Industry to be responsible for Wowza video, leading a team of PMs focused on enabling key value for our customers for whom video streaming in critical. You will be collaborating with all parts of the organization as well as with our customers and partners to iron out requirements and strategies for your specific product area. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will work closely with several highly skilled PMs and their development teams. In this role you will have to rely heavily on your ability to communicate and to drive collaborative analysis.

What You’ll Do:

  • As Manager of Wowza’s current Product Managers, you will mentor and coach in all aspects of Product lifecycle management
  • You will drive the strategy and vision for the group, ensure cross team alignment and oversee release of roadmap items in time and within budget.
  • Understand the market, the customer, and the business to make sound decisions on product features, priorities, and backlog
  • This is a high-profile role that owns the communication, coordination, and execution of full-lifecycle programs
  • You will collaborate and influence cross-functional leadership across Wowza including Engineering, Design, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal, PR, and more
  • Lead the development of the product vision, strategy and roadmaps for Wowza Video.
  • Lead development of enterprise grade video content management systems supporting metadata management, content curation, content syndication and content entitlement related workflows for both Live and VOD.
  • Hire and develop a team of world-class product managers, providing guidance and direction to achieve the product vision and strategy
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Design, Hardware Product, and Subscriptions Teams to define the product roadmap, feature/functionality development, use cases, and market opportunities
  • Define metrics for success and analyze and create dashboards for key metrics
  • Regularly review metrics and proactively seek out new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility, ensuring your program stays aligned with organization objectives
  • Understand the vision of a product from the point of view of all customer stakeholders (system administrators, end users, operations management, etc).
  • Use customer meetings and market research to understand the buyer & user personae that will be the basis for go to market planning and product design
  • Collaborate with customer care and product support teams to understand the support needs and issues.
  • Manage and own various product processes such as New Feature request, ideation to delivery via Jira etc.
  • Evangelize the product lines using pitch decks, demos, and customer feedback
  • Evaluate competitive products & solutions and help establish positioning, core messaging, and pricing strategy
  • Establish yourself as Wowza’s subject matter expert on the use of Live and VOD solutions.

Requirements

About you:

  • 10+ years of Product Management experience with managing all phases of product lifecycle in an agile development environment.
  • Experience managing a SaaS (B2B and B2C) application (preferably in a company with multiple SaaS offerings)
  • Deep understanding and experience in building enterprise grade video content management systems supporting metadata management, content curation, content syndication and content entitlement related workflows for both Live and VOD.
  • Experience in managing a team of Products managers and able to mentor and coach them.
  • An understanding of how to learn from potential customers, define the right problem, and then find a differentiated solution
  • Experience with design thinking
  • Ability to inspire, coach and develop engineers, designers, and partners by articulating a compelling product roadmap that is supported by crisp requirements and customer data
  • Knowledge of business models and stage gate reviews (including : executives, engineering, marketing, sales, partner managers, finance, legal, and support)
  • Degree in computer science or other related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the Internet and online video.
  • Strong analytical skills to accurately define requirements that contribute to a robust platform - help expand the quality of our thinking.
  • Passion for media technology and digital video. You want to be a part of the revolution that is taking place in redefining how digital video is consumed.
  • Comfortable working in a geographically distributed organization.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-organized with expert ability to prioritize activities and manage deliverables to completion in a high-pressure environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of Live and VOD content encodingtranscoding workflows from ingestions to playout.
  • Deep understanding of the various video and audio formats, codecs requirement/optimal for various OS, devices and player combinations.
  • Strong understanding of content DRM and forensic watermarking.
  • Experience working with UX creators to define customer experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with all levels of management.
  • Experience delivering video experiences with various Adaptive Bit Rate technologies (HLS, MPEG DASH).
  • Personal consumer of OTT services, either SVOD or AVOD a plus.

Benefits

Salary: $150,000-$170,000

Bonus eligible

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. The salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
