What you will be doing in the role of a Product Management Director

Susan G Komen leverages multiple Products - internally developed, partnered, 3rd party licensed across the organization, to acquire, engage and retain fundraisers and support our extensive Mission initiatives. As Director, Product Management, you will be responsible for driving the multi-platform technology product suite vision, planning and execution. At Komen, the Product lifecycle starts from the discovery & ideation stage to managing the entire product lifecycle, including market analysis, voice of the customer, requirement definition, conceptual/functional design, UX Design, development domain support, and successful launch to internal departments through to general market availability for all product lines.

Building our products and platforms is a highly collaborative process. Relationships are paramount and strong communication skills are key. In this role, you'll act as the liaison between business users and technical resources. This includes supporting the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.

This Director position is the leader, coordinator, agitator in the product lifecycle, but he/she is not the sole decision maker. The position has a large responsibility, with support and authorization by the business, to decide what to do, or what not to do, for all the Komen Products. This position requires strong persuasion ability to persuade others and often think about what kind of Products make a compelling and engaging user experience, strong fundraising results and delivers on our Mission promise. The candidate must have good logical thinking and excellent communication skills but also have leadership skills to guide the team.

What you will bring to the table

  • Lead a team of Product Managers in product planning and execution - including the gathering and prioritization of product requirements, collaborating with other department leaders and stakeholders.
  • Direct the team with a clear and descriptive set of requirements and deliver product features and functions by balancing customer need with business strategy, minimized defects, and technical debt.
  • Work with business teams to build supporting analyses for budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage existing product lines and lead the ongoing definition of enhancements to support customers.
  • Lead the innovation of new product lines with focus on best-in-class UX design.
  • Conduct business and systems process analysis, at a complex level, resulting in data, process and software documentation and improvement recommendations. Analyze end user needs and feedback.
  • Work with key stakeholders and product teams to rank business requirements, and plan release rollouts.
  • Work with cross-functional (process, design, build, test) teams to deliver features and products.
  • Determine KPIs for product success, carefully monitor upon release of the product, and report results to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Developing, defining, and overseeing the product's roadmap and managing it as required for the purpose of meeting deliverables for the business.
  • Communicate with senior leaders and provide report and analytics of product performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends in the industry, including all relevant areas of information systems that might be incorporated as new technologies into future systems.
  • Communicate current and future statuses of product development as it relates to current and future projects and direction related to these projects.

We already know you will also have

  • Strong working knowledge of Product Management concepts, software development cycles, and associated tools platforms.
  • Ability to facilitate a team to consensus on the scope, design decisions, and implementation decisions.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to document requirements formally or informally depending on the need of the project.
  • Understanding of the agile development process.
  • Familiarity with requirements techniques such as user stories, use cases, and informal modeling.
  • Able to quickly analyze issues and determine best course of action using available resources.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with Salesforce Platforms.
  • Experience working with and integrating with CRM, Email & Reporting platforms is a plus.
  • Over 10 Years of overall experience working in building products.
  • 7+ Years of experience as a Product Manager.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
