Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Director of Product Strategy CyberKnife will lead our CyberKnife product business. This highly visible and important role will be focused on developing market-driven brand strategy, defining the product roadmap, managing product lifecycle, and ensuring we remain customer focused. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable collaborating with the executive team and across various organizational functions on high-level product vision, and getting deep into the details of understanding customer needs, competitive environment, building technical product requirements, and projecting revenue opportunities. This person will ensure end-to-end alignment of our CyberKnife product business to the marketplace and core business growth objectives.

REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT: This position reports to the Vice President of Product Strategy and will ideally be based in Madison, WI, but willing to consider other locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully lead the team responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of products within the CyberKnife brand portfolio, incorporating both strategic to tactical activities to ensure commercial success of the CyberKnife business.
  • Collaborate with executives to translate their vision into action.
  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners / customers.
  • Serve on the Marketing Leadership Team to prioritize activities, define go-to-market strategies and execution, and ensure product messaging and positioning properly reflect the features and benefits important to targeted buyers.
  • Be the company expert in defining and communicating the multi-year brand strategy and product roadmap for the CyberKnife business by minimally incorporating knowledge of market conditions, competitive dynamics, financial forecasting, and customer and commercial insights to support ongoing competitive advantage. Ensure the consistently complete and timely delivery of CyberKnife product requirements with prioritized features and corresponding justification(s) to product development stakeholders.
  • Understand the broader solution initiatives into which CyberKnife products fit and contribute to making those solutions richer and easier to adopt.
  • Prioritize activities / investments, and lead trade-off decision process based on business and customer impact.
  • Seek cross-functional internal and external stakeholder input to develop and implement appropriately priced product offerings, and sales tools to support consistent achievement of Accuray's profitability goals.
  • Work with the Service Support Team to ensure solutions provide maximum business value while supporting clinical partner success.
  • Champion the product development process for bringing new releases to market, with quality, and on schedule.
  • Track and report key metrics of CyberKnife brand success including price, volume, and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and manage the CyberKnife Strategic budget.
  • Ensure superior product quality of the highest level is maintained for the product and services portfolio.
  • Mentor and develop team members, as appropriate.
  • Participate in sales opportunities, sales enablement initiatives, market research projects, and business development and partnership building activities as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred or Desired: Qualifications that are advantageous to have in order to do the role successfully over time, but can be trained.

  • MBA preferred.
  • Previous capital equipment, medical device marketing experience.
  • Advantageous to have understanding of radiation therapy and medical imaging technologies.

Required: Qualifications that a candidate "must have" that are critical to success in the role.

  • Bachelors degree.
  • At least 5+ years previous product management experience. Must have attained the role of Sr. Manager/Director in previous assignments.
  • Broad marketing and commercial experience that includes a strong combination of strategy, competitive analysis, market research, product definition and lifecycle management, pricing, promotion, distribution effectiveness, and installed base initiatives.
  • Ability to build strong rapport and trusting relationships with the medical community / customer base so as to gain in-depth understanding of customers' problems and needs.
  • Experience with Voice of the Customer (VoC) qualitative and quantitative market research techniques, and application to act upon insights to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Ability to craft product requirements using a structured methodology, and to implement by way of a formal product development / delivery process.
  • Successful track record working within a matrix organization to lead, manage, and collaborate with a cross functional teams across regions and cultures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively articulate deadlines, updates, issues and accomplishments, concisely, clearly and in ways that motivate others and build team spirit.
  • Proven ability to create presentations and speak in front of small and large audiences.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of finance, and experience in effective budget management.
  • Results-focused with a track record of consistent achievement.
  • Ability to encourage, motivate and guide individuals or teams in learning and improving effectiveness.
  • Flexibility to work early and late hours to collaborate with global team members. Some travel required.

Accuray pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Accuray Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
