The Director of Program Management - Cloud Engineering will be responsible for leading and partnering across various stakeholder teams to deliver capabilities for our Hybrid multi-public cloud platform. You will partner closely with product, platform engineering and enterprise capability teams across Technology organization to develop and execute against hybrid cloud roadmaps with focus on execution excellence and scaled agile maturity. You will also be involved in building the broader cloud strategy for Amex in partnership with senior technology leaders.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent thought leadership, strategic and critical thinking, large scale program delivery, ability to communicate to senior leadership, relationship building skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. They will need to have a consistent track record of excellence operating independently and within a hard-working team environment.

The role will also:

  • Lead with passion, influence, and be sensitive to geographic and cultural differences across AET
  • Actively contribute standard methodologies and process improvements to the Cloud Engineering organization
  • Attract, retain, and grow top talent across the organization, providing guidance, career development and mentorship to team members
  • Cultivate and drive innovation and experimentation
  • Support additional initiatives such as Agile, SAFe and the NGT program
  • Challenge the status quo and solve problems creatively, demonstrating a wide network across American Express
  • Lead through influence, often without direct authority, persuading with compelling data, facts, and conclusions to set shared goal with senior leaders and their teams
  • Collaborate effectively and build key relationships within Product, Engineering, and Portfolio teams where appropriate
  • Help build the best team culture within Cloud Engineering, and contribute to team building and colleague engagement activities
  • Directly develop a team of colleagues & contractors
Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Strategic Program delivery with a consistent track record of strong leadership across multiple projects/programs with a demonstrated skill and maturity with program management practices, including risk and issue management
  • Experience with program reporting and financial management, including cost center management, cost benefit analysis, project budget management, executive level reporting, definition of key performance indicators and other metrics, etc
  • Experience in various application development and preferably cloud related technologies
  • Practical experience in doing both written and verbal communication effectively to multiple levels within the organization
  • Practical experience in effective time management, including the ability to prioritize and handle conflicting priorities.
  • Experience in people leadership including coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution
  • Strong experience with Agile project management tools such as Jira and Rally
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills (oral/written); with the ability to influence at all levels across functions
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing others.
  • Defines and implements Strategic Planning, collaborating with teams
  • Extraordinary Influencing and Collaboration Skills
  • Ability to succeed in a participatory and consensus-driven environment
  • Ability to constructively engage with diverse constituencies
  • Possess the ability to shift gears in response to the changing needs

  • Proven ability to break down silos and develop cross communication processes
  • University or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred

$103,000.00-$170,000.00 annually + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
