Position Overview:

Reporting to our Chief Customer Officer, the Director, Public Relations will take the leading role overseeing PR activities and ensure effective communication with key stakeholders, media and the public. As Director, Public Relations, this individual must be highly collaborative, have excellent communication skills, well-networked in media, and skilled in crisis management. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement publicity and media relations strategies for the company’s products and services, including a crisis management strategy. Products include all editorial franchises, conferences, commercial products, including advertising partnerships. 
  2. Collaborate with internal teams across all disciplines (e.g. marketing) and maintain open communication with senior management, including advisory role to executive team
  3. Develop and implement publicity media strategy for company events (both branded and editorial)
  4. Manage press attendees onsite at all company events and conferences
  5. Track media coverage and distribute media reports for all company products and follow industry trends
  6. Create and manage a PR plan, including budgets, timelines, and when needed oversee outside PR firms
  7. Analyze all media coverage of the organization, draft appropriate responses, and communicate all PR plans with key internal stakeholders
  8. Draft and distribute all press releases 
  9. Pitch editorial stories and franchises to outside media outlets, including print, digital, and broadcast
  10. Manage all press appearances by Fortune executives
  11. Address inquiries from the media and other parties
  12. Serve as the company spokesperson

Professional/Personal Qualifications

  1. 8+ years experience in public relations or similar role
  2. Superior communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functions and departments
  3. Knowledge and interest in global business, purpose-led companies and leaders
  4. Superior customer relationship management skills
  5. An analytical mind and problem-solving skills
  6. In-depth knowledge of industry best practices
  7. Strong project management skills
  8. Excellent attention to detail
  9. Experience managing media relations (online, broadcast and print)
  10. Ability to work well under pressure and across multiple projects simultaneously

Location: NYC (hybrid); must be commutable to our office headquarters in lower Manhattan

Salary:  $150,000. Bonus compensation will be offered.
