This role is within Chamberlain Group's Engineering function. The Director, Quality Engineering will lead the organization responsible for IoT software test automation and quality assurance from concept to production deployment. In this role the leader will have a vision for the quality team around the product, for the engineering organization, and for the company. The leader is expected to communicate, align, and motivate the organization to achieve this vision. The Director will staff, train, and provide technical guidance to test automation developers embedded in scrum teams aligned to Business Units. The Director will also be responsible for firmware test automation during the development cycle. This includes software, firmware, and connectivity. The Director is also responsible for quality assurance of delivered software apps.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead an organization of managers, engineers, technicians and developers providing software test automation and quality assurance
  • Lead teams across multiple geographies and locations, bringing best practices forward to optimize the quality function at every step in the product lifecycle
  • Be a thought leader in all-things quality, leveraging the latest quality tools, AI capabilities, automation, and other emerging technology in the field
  • Staff Agile teams with test automation developers and QE who will be developing tests at the same time as software features are being developed
  • Support the engineering laboratory with automated fixtures for firmware testing
  • Establish working relationships with business members, technical staff, and subject matter experts to help create and execute the test automation and QA roadmap and strategy
  • Correspond with IT and engineering executives and stakeholders to create and execute the test automation and QA strategy
  • Support deployment of Agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Consistently provide high quality work in a deadline driven environment
  • Facilitate and manage discussions with IT Executives and Senior Engineers
  • Collaborate with security team on architecture design and tools
  • Stay current on overall IoT strategy, business goals, technology trends, updates, and releases
  • Drive improvement in technical architecture and standards/process to deliver the best customer experience
  • Responsible for complying with the security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the established ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities Document found in the ISMS Document Library
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group's reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the QA, software development and test automation field
  • 3+ years of management experience in the software, QA, and test automation field
  • Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure experience
  • Experience with full-stack products from hardware & firmware through the application and integration with partner products.
  • Experience with test automation platforms

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of software development and proficiency in a language such as: C, C++, C#, Java, or Python
  • Solid background in Quality Assurance strategies and statistics
  • Knowledgeable in B2C, B2B, & B2B2C
  • Deep understanding in delivering best-in-class consumer applications on top of high-available SAAS platform
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment
  • Knowledgeable in Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Job Requirements:
  • Masters in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience testing physical product
  • Experience with SoapUI, Selenium, Appium
  • Experience with LabView
  • Six Sigma or Lean training
