A Brief Overview
The Director of Security Services is responsible for the planning, direction and coordination of activities of three service and support disciplines, including Security Services, Photo Identification Services, and the Lock Shop. This position is responsible for the overall protection of life and property at Stanford University Medical Center by identifying, communicating, and updating departmental goals, operating policies, and defining objectives and responsibilities of subordinates and their delegating authority in order to provide optimum support. The Director of Security Services is also responsible for establishing and operating effective security programs that foster positive relations with patients, visitors, and staff.

What you will do
- Acts as a professional liaison with local, University, State, and Federal law enforcement and life safety agencies. Collaborates with Nursing Administration, Patient Relations, and other departments as necessary in determining security needs for the various patient and clinical care units and programs.
- Creates internal guidelines and procedures that are directly responsive to the institution's needs.
- Directs all investigations involving possible criminal activity on the part of staff with Human Resources and Risk
- Management.
- Evaluates the department's security program to ensure it is consistent with current national standards in training, procedures, and systems, as well as ensuring it meets the criteria of all statute and case law involving hospital security programs.
- Prepares long range security plans that address changes in the physical plant, types of medical services provided, facility accessibility, improved systems technology, staffing levels, and other pertinent factors that affect the security program in the changing healthcare environment.
- Reviews all building plans and makes recommendations on security issues such as accessibility, CCTV, lighting, landscaping, and other needs as necessary.
- Serves as an active member of several committees such as the Safety Committee, Disaster Committee, and various other committees and task forces as assigned.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
Experience Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

- Knowledge of security services policies, procedures, and operational facilities
- Knowledge of police/law enforcement procedures and techniques
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $86.34 - $114.41 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
