Position Overview
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Web Strategy & Design within the Demand Generation team, the Director, SEO will be the driving force in our quest for digital excellence. You will lead efforts to set the vision, direction, grow organic traffic, and budget for the SEO function of our organization. They will define the SEO objectives, KPIs, and metrics, and monitor the performance and ROI of those SEO activities. The ideal candidate should have a SEO technical and content foundation and a proven track record of developing and executing comprehensive SEO strategies that drive significant business outcomes. They will have a clear point of view on where the SEO is heading and enthusiasm for sharing thought leadership, thus setting a North Star for the future state of SEO influence.
The Director, SEO will be a strong team leader and a desired partner. They will mentor the SEO team, including SEO managers, specialists, agencies, and writers, but they will also educate and inform the broader Demand Generation team to align and follow SEO best practices as applied to their specialty. The Director, SEO communicates with senior management and stakeholders to provide strategic guidance, clear prioritization and rationale for SEO initiatives and will listen carefully and consider the business needs and objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies to increase organic search rankings, drive targeted traffic and improve efficiency
- Conduct thorough website audits to identify content and technical SEO issues and opportunities to build and implement a continuous improvement cycle.
- Work with the development and IT teams to optimize the website domains, redirects, content, metadata, backlinks, and site architecture for maximum search visibility and user experience.
- Provide data driven decision making. Conduct and provide regular reporting on content gap analysis, competitor analysis, and monitor and analyze website performance using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, and other relevant tools.
- Stay up-to-date on Google algorithm updates, best practices in SEO and analytics, and industry trends that could impact business performance.
- Spearhead collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between SEO efforts and other Demand Generation and business objectives.
- Lead by example. Provide guidance and mentorship, have a growth mindset, constantly pioneer new strategies and opportunities for the team, while fostering a culture of continuous curiosity.
- Advocate and be a strong believer of leaning in. Be forward-thinking, jump into projects, and roll up your sleeves where it's necessary.
- Present SEO performance reports and insights to leadership in a clear and compelling manner, demonstrating the value of SEO and providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Impact focused - The metric you most directly impact is web traffic, but your focus on company attainment of our top-line revenue number is your main driver and understand how all initiatives (revenue-generating or not) fit into that overall landscape.
Requirements
- 8-10+ years of expert-level experience in SEO, Search Marketing, Web Development, and Content Marketing with active, hands-on optimization experience
- Prior experience in a senior role within a web and/or Demand Generation team.
- Must have a deep understanding of SEO best practices, keyword research methodologies, information architecture, and other components of SEO.
- Proven track record of success in driving organic search growth and improving website performance
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to inform strategic decision-making to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Extensive knowledge of on-page SEO, technical SEO, and search engine ranking optimization
- Experience with SEO tools Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, and other relevant tools.
- Expertise in A/B and other testing methods and experience measuring SEO tactics via these methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to rally teams from across large organizations around clear objectives and key results
- Experience managing and championing department processes and improving time management and workload efficiency to task completion.
- Proven work experience managing a team of direct reports, agencies and contractors and a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop direct reports into more senior roles
Compensation
The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and in addition to benefits this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity.
US Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000 w/a 15% annual bonus

For international applicants, actual salary offers and benefit plans may vary based on the local market compensation standards and will be determined in accordance with regional considerations, including but not limited to applicable laws, cost of living, and industry norms.
