Director of Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering

Location: Salt Lake City, UT 

 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Director to join our organization. As the SRE Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of highly skilled engineers, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems and applications. You will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining best practices for the design, deployment, and operation of the CXone technology stack and infrastructure. 

 

Responsibilities 

Leadership and Team Management: 

  • Lead a team of SRE engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of excellence. 
  • Set clear goals and objectives, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance evaluations. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as development and operations, to ensure effective communication and alignment. 

Reliability and Performance Optimization: 

  • Design and implement strategies to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance. 
  • Define and monitor service level objectives (SLOs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure system performance and availability. 
  • Identify and proactively address potential bottlenecks and performance issues. 

Incident Management and Problem Resolution: 

  • Develop incident response and management processes, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime. 
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement and prevent recurrence. 
  • Establish and maintain effective monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to detect and respond to incidents. 

Automation and Infrastructure: 

  • Drive the development and implementation of automation tools and processes to streamline infrastructure management and deployments. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure proper integration of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles. 
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending, and implementing relevant solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand business requirements and align SRE goals with organizational objectives. 
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into understandable terms. 
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide technical guidance on infrastructure-related matters. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in leading and managing SRE or related teams, with a track record of successfully delivering reliable and scalable systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. 
  • Expertise in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform or Ansible. 
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages like Python, Go, or Bash. 
  • Solid understanding of networking, distributed systems, and database technologies. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
