As part of our Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) team, you'll be working on our AI-powered, voice-enabled ambient clinical intelligence solution that automatically documents patient-physician conversations. No other company in the world has achieved full automation of a clinical note from a natural ambient conversation - allowing doctors to focus on caring for and engaging with patients instead of typing notes into a computer. DAX cuts documentation times in half and has successfully reduced clinicians' feeling of burnout and fatigue by 70 percent. Come help us scale this exciting technology.

You are at the right place. We are Nuance (now part of Microsoft), and currently looking for an experienced leader in software development for this new product DAX - Dragon Ambient eXperience.
In this role you would be in a position of influencing the direction this new product is taking. If you are innovative, not afraid of trying new things, curious and able to get things done in a timely manner, we would like to talk to you. Whilst in this position a solid software development experience is required, we would need you to be able to learn new things as business needs are shaping.
The focus of this position is around organizing development activities for the team who are focusing on the user facing workflow applications and providing leadership to a team of scrum masters to improve the engineering processes currently defined around agile methodologies and drive towards reliable internal schedules. We aspire an agile operation with continued improvement and delivery while maintaining predictable delivery of value aligned with business objectives; Previous experience in designing or working on cloud services or other highly scalable & reliable software is required. Continuous deployment is one of the explicit project goals. To support that, experience or strong knowledge with infrastructure as code and/or QA automation of service infrastructure would also be desirable.

As the Director of Software Engineering you will join our growing Engineering team. You will manage teams of software engineers to help them all learn, grow and succeed. You will provide oversight to the software engineering organization and hold accountability for technical decisions.
What you will tackle:
• Drive product initiatives through the software engineering discipline • Plan and prioritize work for your team, including collaborating with partner organizations
• Create an inclusive environment that attracts and retains high-performing engineers
• Constantly learn and grow as an engineering leader
• Your primary focus will be to drive direction of the scribing platform, DAX Studio, workflow and operational efficiency features in conjunction with innovative AI draft outputs.
- Drive use of micro-services in DAX Studio
• Innovate through prototyping
- Drive performance, scalability and resiliency improvements and monitor service through metrics and dashboards
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leads to drive innovation, scalability and cloud adoption across the DHC platform
What you'll need:
• You've studied - you have a BA, BS, or MS in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• You've designed and coded - you have a solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns; and you've got a least 7 years of industry experience as a software engineer to prove it. Significant development experience in Enterprise Java, Javascript/Typescript, C# .Net is strongly preferred.
• You've built stuff - you have significant, proven experience in building complex systems on which companies rely. SaaS platform development experience at scale using modern architectures (SPA, Microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases, DevOps/CI/CD) is strongly preferred.
• You've taught - you've made the engineers on your team better engineers, colleagues, collaborators, leaders, and teachers. Evangelizing for engineering best practices encompassing system performance and scalability, application security, test automation and development of the team's T-shaped skills is highly desired.
• You've led - you have at least 5 years of experience leading teams of engineers by setting clear expectations, keeping team members energized, and delivering great results. Significant experience leading Agile teams with the Scrum methodology is strongly preferred.
• You've influenced - you are clear on company and engineering goals, you can influence with or without authority, and you like to give and receive feedback.
• You're learning - no matter how much you know, you are always seeking to learn more and to become a better engineer and leader.
