Are you a Software Director ready to lead software development teams based in the US in Indiana, Colorado, and California?
Job Summary:
Lead and strategically grow the software development teams based in the US in Indiana, Colorado, and California, and by extension, a team in IDC, India. Develop software strategy to inspire and empower software teams to deliver robust and effective software that will transform science and healthcare with the next groundbreaking discovery by our customers. This position reports to Senior Director of Development for Biotech Workflow Solutions in Beckman Coulter Life Sciences.
This is a Hybrid role located in Indianapolis IN or Loveland, CO.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior level management in the development of software product portfolio strategies for the product lines within the Biotech Workflow Solutions business unit.
- Lead, mentor and coach software managers, developers, and testers
- Build and implement strategies to improve the software development process and our return on investment from software-based solutions.
- Contribute cross-functionally to the product roadmap strategy by working with the Sr. Director of R&D, Product Management, and the General Manager.
- Assign work in support of both project deliverables and individual team members' career development.
- Gather and retain performance metrics in support of continuous improvement while ensuring the team's compliance with software standards and company procedures.
- Execute quality assurance activities such as risk analysis, software deliverable technical reviews and code inspections.
- Be an Agile Coach and understand the agile scrum development process
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- 15+ years of related experience in software development and testing
- 10+ years of experience as a people manager
- Leadership and a desire to manage managers who lead teams to build great products from a user-centered design approach.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and a proven track record delivering projects on time. Experience leading teams working on software-hardware products and pure software products.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Passion for learning new technologies and domains and a desire to make software that delights users
- Experience as a manager of managers
- Excellent time management, meeting facilitation, communication, and documentation skills.
- Software development experience across embedded software, desktop applications and web applications including cloud deployment in AWS/Azure
- Software development experience in the life sciences domain
- Experience in the development of biotech devices and a solid understanding of FDA Quality System Regulation

- The salary range for this role is $184,000.00 - $239,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.
- This job is also eligible for annual incentive pay.
