Director, Sourcing

Programmable DNA, the software of Life, is finally here! Twist Bioscience is developing a disruptive Synthetic DNA technology that will change the world, enabling widespread health and sustainability. Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, make everyday chemicals by using the atmosphere as the carbon source, enable plants to make their own fertilizers, and to create in-vivo diagnostics that alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.

We need a passionate, highly skilled, experience and positive leader to develop and grow Twist’s Direct Sourcing organization, focusing on developing and implementing improved strategic sourcing policies to ensure continuous supply to production and NPI organizations. Candidate will be creating cost estimates and forecasts, negotiating cost-effective contracts with key suppliers, and overseeing our sourcing team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate sound knowledge of negotiation strategies and extensive experience in a similar role. An accomplished strategic sourcing leader will be someone whose expertise translates into higher profit margins and a help propel Supply Chain to be a competitive advantage.

What You’ll Be Doing

●      Evaluating Sourcing procedures and presenting improvement strategies to senior management for approval.

●      Developing and implementing key commodities roadmaps.

●      Analyzing and calculating BOM costs and developing multi years cost reduction strategies.

●      Driving purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends.

●      Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.

●      Collaborating with the R&D teams to identify and pursue new supplier opportunities.

●      Manage supplier on boarding selection process.

●      Conducting market research, as well as creating cost estimates and forecasts.

●      Estimating risks and applying risk minimizing techniques focusing on business continuity as well as reducing Sole and Single sources.

●      Maintaining strategic sourcing relationships and developing strong partnerships.

●      Hiring, training, and managing Sourcing organization.

●      Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws

●      Follow regulatory and ISO 13485.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

●      B.A. at Business, Industrial Eng, Life Science or equivalent experience.

●      10+ Years’ experience as a Global Sourcing leader or in a similar position.

●      7+ Years’ experience at a supervisory and management position.

●      Deep commodities business management.

●      Superb leadership and communication skills.

●      Advanced ability to collaborate and negotiate.

●      Excellent organizational and time management skills.

●      Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.

●      Willingness to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.

●      Able to analyze, prepare, and deliver presentations to management. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. SAP knowhow preferred.

●      Experience in Life Science industry and/or Reagents commodities management background preferred.

The Director, Sourcing is expected to be onsite 3 days per week.
