Director / Sr. Director, Human Genetics

The Altos Institute of Medicine will capture knowledge generated about cell health and re-programming and develop transformative medicines. We are seeking a highly experienced human geneticist and biotechnology leader. The Director / Sr. Director of Human Genetics reports to the Global Head of Human Genetics and will contribute to the design and building of the Institute of Medicine.

The successful candidate is a demonstrated scientific visionary and strategic leader who builds high-performing teams and drives innovation to develop new medicines. 

As a member of the Institute of Medicine, you will play a key role in developing, shaping, and implementing the overall strategy of Altos in the areas of:

• Envisioning and leading interactions with scientists in the three Altos Science Institutes
• Seek, develop, and maintain valuable external partnerships that add value, create flexibility, access expertise and drive enhanced returns for Altos
• Harvest and analyze genetic and genomic variations and use those discoveries to dissect the molecular and cellular basis of disease 
• Use those insights to enable the development of transformative medicines
• Plans or conducts genomic and biological research related to areas such as regulation of gene expression, protein interactions, metabolic networks, and nucleic acid or protein complexes in partnership with the Global Head of Human Genetics.
• Confers with information technology, computational biology, and machine learning specialists to enable genetic data analysis.
• Contributes to a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion

Qualifications

• MD, Ph.D., or MD/Ph.D. degree(s) and at least 8+years of experience in drug discovery 
• Proven capability to lead, motivate and inspire in a diverse, global, cross-functional structure and commit to diversity, equity, and belonging. 
• A critical thinker with the ability to analyze possibilities and solutions and make pragmatic trade-offs, as well as a big-picture innovator who can identify possibilities and is comfortable with ambiguity
• Clear and influential communicator: exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to build and connect strong teams and build community across Altos

The salary for the Director level is: $279,650 - $378,350
The salary for the Senior Director level is: $329,800 - $446,200
