Sr Lead Data Analyst

Provides business and technical expertise for the analytics process, tools and useful applications across multiple functions or business units.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Consulting to clients on tool and strategy implementation and monitoring, statistical scoring, business intelligence, data quality, and analytical product / solution development.
  • Determining the optimal analytic approach and supporting development, implementation and enhancements.
  • Conceptualizing, developing and continuously optimizing dashboard reporting for operations and executive management to enable data driven decision making.
  • Analyzing results for multiple functions and communicating conclusions from complex models to a wide range of audiences.

This role will be a critical position within the product analytics function within the TIAA enterprise analytics organization and will be focused on growing our lifetime income (annuity) products among retirement plan participants. The individual will be interacting with the financial product management teams to understand their business need, connect product strategy with enterprise goals, design analytical solutions, insights to drive the necessary actions meet business goals. Key skills critical to success in this role are ability to build strong partnerships across the firm, strong analytical skills, executive communication, ability to influence and drive actions based on insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly interact with business partners to understand business needs, craft problem statements to effectively design appropriate analytics solutions. Build strong partnerships within and outside of enterprise analytics organization to 'connect the dots'
  • Process large amounts of textual, quantitative data, within the context of the business to synthesize key actions, outcomes
  • Succinctly articulate business problems to an executive audience, build appropriate visuals to tell a compelling story using customer, product insights
  • Partner across the organization to understand key business drivers, develop tools to explore leading indicator, develop scenario-based projections to forecast short and long-term trends
  • Build analytical power-user tools, to explore data and respond to business questions. Partner with data scientists as needed, effectively interpret statistical models for business use cases
  • Peer-review technical solutions to internal standards, governance rules and best practices
  • Manages large, complex projects or processes with limited oversight while working with other team members to ensure accurate findings and results

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in financial product management/financial analytics, and/or consulting
  • 5 years of hands-on programming experience in SAS/Python/R and SQL, stored procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Statistics, or related degree highly preferred
  • 10 years of experience with SAS, SQL, Python, SPSS and/or R
  • 10 years of experience in financial product management/financial analytics/marketing, and/or consulting
  • 10 years of experience in data analytics including extracting, validating and visualization of data
  • Experience with data preparation techniques for analytical use
  • 10 years of experience in designing and delivering insights using data analysis techniques highly preferred.
  • Consulting background highly preferred.

Base Pay Range: $116,300/yr. - $175,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
