We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of SSD Hardware Engineering to lead our team in the design, development, and delivery of ground breaking solid-state drive (SSD) hardware solutions. You will play a meaningful role in driving innovation, ensuring high-quality product development, and leading a team of versatile engineers. Your expertise and leadership will be essential in crafting our SSD hardware strategy and driving the success of our organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the SSD hardware engineering team.
2. Define and implement the overall SSD hardware development roadmap, considering industry trends, customer requirements, and technological advancements.
3. Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams, including software engineering, product management, and operations, to ensure alignment and successful product delivery.
4. Lead and mentor a team of engineers, encouraging a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
5. Drive the development of new SSD hardware designs, architectures, and features to meet performance, capacity, reliability, and cost targets.
6. Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and trade-off analyses to guide hardware design decisions.
7. Lead all aspects of the design verification, validation, and testing activities to ensure product reliability and alignment to industry standards.
8. Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and vendors to tap into their expertise and optimize hardware development processes.
9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and competitive landscape related to SSD hardware engineering.
10. Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgetary considerations to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
2. Extensive experience in SSD hardware engineering, including the design, development, and validation of SSD products.
3. Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, encouraging collaboration, and delivering high-quality products.
4. Solid understanding of SSD architectures, NAND flash memory, PCIe interfaces, controllers, and related technologies.
5. Experience with FPGA and ASIC design methodologies, system-level design, and integration.
6. Familiarity with industry standards and protocols such as NVMe, SATA, and PCIe.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
8. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and prioritise effectively.
9. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present sophisticated technical information to both technical and non-technical customers.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$165,000.00 - $332,000.00
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
