Director - Strategic Account Management

The Director - Strategic Account Management leads business development and relationship management with new and most critical and complex registrar and reseller partners, drives optimal performance by the partner in joint marketing activities and Global Channel Marketing programs (GCM), forecasts domain registrations by partners, gathers partner and market intelligence and ensures timely and complete communication to both the partner and key internal stakeholders. The Director provides significant input into the master strategy for the region and for key partners headquartered in the region. The position provides professional leadership and coordination for more junior account management team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates and implements the strategic plan for key partner accounts in the Americas, in consultation with senior management and marketing management
- Leads global account strategy development for those global accounts for which the Director is responsible, and consults with other account management, marketing, and product leaders in creating this global account plan
- Gains knowledge and insight from the market and channel, and in Partners’ business priorities and challenges to help align Verisign strategies and plans. Advises management, marketing, other account management leadership and product management of the partner and market needs and dynamics to help align Verisign strategies with partner and market realities
- With Marketing and GCM Program team, jointly drives the development and execution of joint marketing plans and programs with partner personnel and Verisign marketing / GCM teams for the region. Works with global marketing management to ensure that optimal joint marketing investments are made. Actively manages and monitors partner execution and compliance with GCM and joint marketing program objectives and commitments. Provides ongoing management reporting of execution
- Develop and maintain market and registration forecasts for key partners. Ensures that regional new registration objectives which affect global accounts are appropriately factored into plans
- Leads or supports the timely development of qualitative and quantitative weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and presentations
- Helps direct the Verisign team to maintain a continuous knowledge of partner status in order to identify potential issues and/or opportunities within or related to the registrar. Ensures timely and thorough reporting to Verisign senior management
- Ensures that client issues are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing top management of any problems that may arise and working within the Verisign organization to develop long-term solutions to client challenges
- Must be willing and available to travel to customer meetings to meet with executives and operations staff (25-30%)
Qualifications:
- 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree in business or equivalent work experience required; MBA preferred
- 12 years related business experience and industry required with minimum 4 years related managerial experience
- Comfortable working in PowerPoint, Excel
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule.
The pay range is $188,500 - $255,100. The anticipated base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
