Job Description

The Enterprise Strategy and Insights team is comprised of GuideWell's Corporate Strategy, Competitive Intelligence, Market Research, and Strategic Data Intelligence teams. They partner directly with GuideWell's executive leadership team to develop and execute the corporate strategy, including multi-year strategic plans and roadmaps.

The Director of Strategic Data Intelligence will contribute strategic insights derived by industry, regional, and local data associated with GuideWell's market positioning. This role will also delve into market conditions and our financial, as well as membership driven execution in existing / emerging segments, in partnership with Competitive Intelligence, Market Research, and Corporate Development colleagues, to drive executive strategic decision-making. The Director of Strategic Data Intelligence will develop, support, gather, and aid in the analysis of competitor financial results (GAAP and Statutory based) across GuideWell's core and emerging competitors by geography served.

The ideal candidate would have had experience leading the analysis of insurance company financials, Statutory and GAAP focused, along with experience assessing product filings (local insurance regulator and CMS filings) to pinpoint shortcomings. While also maintaining an innate skill to lead by example, developing the broader team's analytical capabilities to solve specific enterprise questions with ease.

Job duties include but are not limited to: • Establishing a cadence of reporting mechanisms to key stakeholders, including executive leadership, in partnership with enterprise strategy, competitive intelligence, and corporate development to analyze industry financial performance on key metrics such as risk-based capital, market sizing / positioning, key operating metrics on a per-member per-month basis. • collaborate with executive leadership and key business stakeholders, leveraging those partnerships to inform the company's strategy, growth objectives, and planned execution. • guide business intelligence best practices in a bi-directional basis with cross-collaborative resources tasked with similar business intelligence responsibilities, identifying competitor deficiency or strengths via financial performance, while also maintaining regular exposure to senior leadership. • drive continuous improvement and growth of the enterprise strategy, competitive intelligence, and market research functions, by accelerating the department's ability to become more quantitative and qualitatively focused on the assessment of competitors, by leveraging several internal and external data and information sources. • Serve the needs of GuideWell's portfolio of companies to provide key market and competitive insights, driven by strategic financial data elements, to lead to strategic decision-making and business planning efforts • Maintain in-depth understanding of insurance company fundamentals, including the competitive landscape, regulatory dynamics, and product insights, underscored by significant knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Risk-Based Capital frameworks • Aggregate and disseminate strategic financial insights across the organization to key executive level business partners, with an innate ability to synthesize analyses from various sources, both internal and external to GuideWell to support the department's identification of key trends and competitive threats • Act as a key resource for our leaders to identify as a subject matter expert within insurance accounting and data gathering, aiding in the ability to drive strategic and transformation change throughout the department • Rapidly develop systems, processes, and profiles to assess competitor activity (financially focused) within existing and emerging markets by which a view of prioritization can be offered to aid in the investment in capability gap closures, technology, as well as products and services to differentiate GuideWell's value proposition to those we serve • Collaborate frequently with the Enterprise Strategy, Competitive Intelligence, Market Research, and Corporate Development teams to act as an Enterprise consultant, supporting the needs of GuideWell's leadership and our corporate strategy

Job Requirements: • 7+ years' related work experience. Experience Details: insurance industry or related experience, centered on strong analytical skills associated with financial statements and product filings, including • 5+ years' experience in conducting financial analysis, ideally within the insurance industry, financial services sector, investment bank, or credit rating agency• Related Bachelor's degree required or additional equivalent work experience• Strong executive presence, the incumbent should have in-depth knowledge of the core segment supporting functions of an insurance company including product, pricing, analytics, distribution, strategy, and business development.• Maintenance of in-depth accounting, financial, or economics background with knowledge of insurance accounting, financial ratio analysis, and financial statement analysis• Strong expertise in understanding and disseminating industry reserving trends, and capital modeling capabilities• Hands-on experience analyzing insurance company financials, including utilizing SNL Financial, Capital IQ and other key data products• Executive presence and tact necessary to engage with senior leadership, as well as capacity and drive to learn new subject matter with the focus of providing a framework necessary to support sound decision making• Strong desire to learn new areas of the business that are not immediately aligned to this role, while building relationships across multiple organizations without direct authority• Exceptional interpersonal and presentation development / leadership skills• Ability to collaborate, influence, and present to senior leadership in a clear and succinct manner• Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel with ability to develop and contribute to consultant-like quality materials
