Director, Strategic Initiatives
Job Description
We are looking for a Director, Strategic Initiatives who will partner closely with our COO in a “Chief of Staff” like role. This is an opportunity to work closely with our COO, the rest of our GTM leadership team, and our broader senior leadership team across the company to help scale Grafana Labs.
This person will be responsible for designing and executing strategic initiatives and operational programs across the organization. Potential projects can range from evaluating new growth and GTM strategies to executive communications. The person in this role will work closely with cross-functional partners in BizOps/PMO, Revenue Operations, data analytics, finance, GTM enablement, and other teams.Â
We are looking for a person who is a strategic thinker and an effective problem solver who has a combination of strategy and technology market experience, very strong communications and interpersonal skills, a high sense of urgency to get things done quickly, and is able to thrive in high-growth, fast-paced environments dealing with ambiguous and often complex problems.
This is a unique opportunity as this role will give the individual an insider’s view on how a fast-growing business is run, opportunities to contribute to the company’s overall strategy and help drive its successful execution, and direct exposure to many functions and the company’s leadership.
Our COO is based in New York, but we are open to candidates anywhere in the US.
What You’ll Do
- Reporting directly into the COO and collaborating closely with the CEO, you will own key cross-functional initiatives that are important business priorities.
- You will be responsible for maintaining the operational rhythm of the business for the COO and his team, including OKRs and annual planning.
- You will own the agenda for leadership meetings, facilitating healthy discussions of the most important topics for the business.
- In collaboration with the COO, you will identify high impact projects and/or processes that need to be created or improved. You will develop project plans, get buy-in from stakeholders, and execute on those plans.
- You will stay close to the key operating metrics of the business to identify and raise key focus areas for the business.
- You will act as a strategic partner for the COO and CEO, providing leverage to the executive team.
Requirements:
- Great project management and collaboration skills - know how to get things done when there are a lot of stakeholders and in a position of influence vs authority
- Excellent communicator - can clearly explain the problem you’re trying to solve, can get buy-in for your solution, and can effectively communicate with concise, clear language
- Ability to bring others along and inspire followership through times of change
- Curious - excited to touch many areas of the business and learn about their needs
- Strong executive presence - can work effectively with company leadership and can foster healthy conflict amongst the team to ensure we are confronting the most critical business objectives
- Demonstrates an extremely high level of accountability combined with a huge sense of urgency
- Consulting experience (ideally with tech clients) or 4+ years of experience at a high growth tech company preferred
