Director, Supply Chain

We design and build our robotic systems in-house.  These systems are extremely complex consisting of hundreds of components. Our Director of Supply Chain will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we reliably have the critical parts and components when we need them.  You will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and overseeing all activities involved with the procurement process.  We are ramping up quickly and must build processes and systems so that we can quickly scale for dozens to thousands of robots in the near term.   

This is a management position so you will need to be a master at executing the supply chain role as well as a functional leader. You’ll be building systems and processes, reporting status to company leadership, as well as building and developing a team.   

This is a role for a subject matter expert in supply chain and will have significant responsibility that will immediately have a positive impact on the entire organization.    

Responsibilities   

• Define the processes required to execute a world class supply chain organization 
• Build supply chain, purchasing, inventory control, and logistics team 
• Select vendors and develop relationships to ensure the highest quality components at the lowest cost  
• Assist in the selection and management of contract manufacturing partner  
• Select and manage robust ERP system for logistics, inventory control, and forecasting 
• Manage supplier relationships and supplier performance 
• Monitor global supply chains to forecast shortages and execute risk buying when necessary 
• Manage internal purchasing and inventory control functions 
• Develop a robust supply chain function with a deep bench of verified vendors as well as alternative parts 
• Develop and maintain forward looking product cost models 
• Coordinate closely with engineering team to include design reviews to assist in identifying and sourcing critical components far in advance 

Requirements  

• 6+ years in experience in supply chain management, with 3 years in direct procurement 
• 3+ years of people management experience  
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering, preferred   
• Experience in sourcing electrical components for board assembly  
• Experience in working with sourcing parts through machining vendors, domestic and international  
• Experience in purchasing systems with Bills of Materials in excess of 1,000 separate components  
• Experience in data analytics and forecasting  
• Experience developing and implementing new processes and procedures
