The role

The Director, Supply Planning for Own Brands leads a team of senior planning managers & planning managers, with responsibility for 15 brands, including Aeropostale, American Eagle, Hollister & Tumi. The role reports into the VP, Operations, as part of a team of five, alongside leaders for Kristin Ess, Hairitage, and other top brands. The role leads Supply Planning for material and finished goods and operates across the breath of the supply chain, interacting with all functions and hierarchies within the company. 

In simple terms, this critical leadership role ensures all established delivery, quality and costs commitments for these brands are met, thereby securing the conditions for sustained growth.

Pay Range: $160,000/yr - $175,000/yr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. 

Core Responsibilities

Talent Management
Maesa is undergoing a significant transformation and continues to invest heavily in talent across all aspects of the business.  This role will help build a new level of Supply Planning capability within that program and ensure that the supply chain remains a fundamental lever for success.

  • Provide leadership and motivation to the Supply Planning team for Own Brands for effective delivery of business goals
  • Attract, develop, retain and motivate employees to deliver targets and strengthen their capability and help them to live and breathe Maesa values along with compliance to all relevant policies, procedures and regulations
  • Embed a mindset of continuous improvement through the deployment of lean tools & techniques
  • Role model dynamic feedback to drive professional development

Integrated Business Planning
Maesa has recently relaunched its IBP process, in line with industry best practice.  This role supports the Supply Management Review element of the cycle and enables effective gap identification & closure for the relevant brands, through operational and strategic inventory health

  • Transparency of short, medium and long-term product availability and inventory & purchasing health
  • Early identification of risks and opportunities, together with effective mitigation & execution plans
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on growth commitments, supply plans and inventory coverage working in collaboration with our Sales, Marketing and Finance teams
  • Enable timely and effective trade-offs between growth, cost and cash when outside of the business framework
  • Effective launch of new brands, new products and channel expansion through coordination of manufacturing activities for finished goods, with all internal functions
  • Provide input to the development of product strategy and new product research & development

Supply Planning
As the global supply chain continues to experience major challenges and customer & consumer expectations accelerate, the role of Supply Planning grows in its critical importance to Maesa 

  • Proactively define the availability, inventory and procurement needs of Maesa’s customers’ and ensure that the Supply Chain is aligned to delivering against its objectives
  • Manage the effective purchasing of finished goods and ensure full alignment on packaging components & raw materials with Materials Planning teams in the USA and China to meet the growth, cash and margin needs of the business
  • Build and sustain high quality planning master data for the relevant Own Brands
  • Drive the integrity of planning logic and data within ERP and establish clear links into Demand Planning, Customer Logistics and Global Logistics for effective flow of information and product
  • Deploy Supply Planning methods, tools and reporting capability within Epicor ERP
  • Develop, publish, and exploit dashboarding, visualization and exception management reporting for effective review and analysis of KPIs and performance for use by the Operations, Sales, Marketing and Finance teams

Vendor Partnership
One of Maesa’s unique capabilities is its network of specialized contract manufacturers & fillers.  This role ensures the effective joint planning and alignment across this community

  • Enact effective vendor performance reviews and joint business planning to identify & mitigate supply risks
  • Develop repeatable processes for ensuring inventory and plan alignment and prioritization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields such as Supply Chain, Operations Management or Engineering
  • Strongly empathic & empowering leader with experience of supply planning, inventory management, purchasing and vendor management
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in FMCG, co-manufacturing or related field
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment and communicate at a high level across multiple functions
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in at least one or more of the following areas: Supply Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations
  • Beauty products manufacturing experience (color cosmetics highly preferred) for FG sourcing
  • Thorough understanding of operational aspects from raw materials through delivery to the customer
  • Proven ability to manage change, ability to work across global boundaries and borders, and strong decision making
  • Strong analytical skills; strategic thinker and highly effective problem-solver
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence and educate, with a hands-on approach
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio), ERP, MRP and visualization & reporting tools
  • Ability to travel 20% domestically and internationally

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers, especially in China
  • Experience in manufacturing & distributing Color Cosmetics & Beauty products in complex supply chains
  • Experience of planning in high growth categories with extensive innovation
  • English language
