The Director of Sustainability and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy and Programs will lead the development, implementation, and execution of Allison's ESG strategy and sustainability reporting, driving and leading progress on defined ESG goals and deliverables and reporting on Allison's accomplishments to internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead Allison's ESG program and sustainability practices, including the development of goals and objectives in alignment with statutory requirements, corporate strategy, stakeholder demands and trends, creation and publication of the annual ESG report, timely filing required reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), European Union (EU) and other global regulatory bodies and development of data collection and management processes in compliance with assurance and audit standards.
- Build and maintain the governance and oversight for all global ESG activities at Allison while ensuring alignment of ESG with corporate strategy objectives, legal requirements, customer demands.
- Acquires detailed understanding of rules and requirements established by regulatory bodies like the SEC rules, EU and other global governing bodies, detailed SOX processes and partners closely with Internal Audit and outside auditors to keep controls.
- Develops strategic program plan for annual reporting processes and regulatory filings according to deadlines and lead multiple cross-functional partners to critical timelines.
- Performs data analytics and develops ESG dashboard for reporting progress against objectives, including reporting and compliance with government regulations.
- Prepare regular updates to senior leadership and the Board of Directors on ESG trends, and corporate initiatives.
- Act as subject matter authority for all internal controls process and lead ESG working group and functional meetings to support ESG reporting and compliance.
- Coordinates global responses to surveys and inquiries from customers and partners on sustainability programs and ESG compliance.
- Stay informed of new and emerging ESG trends, standards and legislation globally and identify new opportunities to support sustainability plans.
- Serve as business partner to guide functional leaders, educate, and ensure that key team members understand the roles and accountabilities for ESG internal controls and risk management.
- Act as a liaison in supporting internal and external audits of ESG internal practices.
- Collaborate with external resources to provide subject-matter expertise, where needed.
- Bachelors degree in a related field required, Master's degree preferred.
- 5 years of corporate, business, and program or project management experience required.
- Strong organization, project management, time management and task prioritization skills.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to deliver results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate information effectively at all levels of the business and influence key partners and constituents.
- Willingness to learn on the fly and adapt to changing regulatory schemes and customer demands.
- Ability to reliably analyze data while maintaining focus on the big picture and overarching ESG story line.
- Ability to work efficiently with different internal functional groups and levels of employees including Senior Leadership.
- Creative out of the box thinking and strong persuasion skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with high levels of motivation, initiative, and willingness to take risks.
Required:
- Validated experience in working with multiple partners to successfully implement action plans.
- Prior program management experience, with an emphasis on cross-functional programs.
Preferred:
- Experience with sustainability strategy development, implementation and performance reporting or disclosure experience in an organization with international operations, preferably a publicly listed company.
- In depth know-how of sustainability practices, tools, standards, frameworks, certificates, reports as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Engagement with key rating and ranking organizations.
