This is a virtual/remote position considering candidates who reside within the United States, ideally located in the Eastern or Central time zones

What you will do

Johnson Controls is on an exciting journey of strategic transformation to being a digital building company and we are transforming our leaders and skills of our workforce. The Director of Talent Management is responsible for meeting JCI's talent capacity needs by identifying organizational and talent needs in a geography, working with the Regional Business and HR leader to address these needs, assessing mobility, and accelerating the development of talent across this region of JCI. The Director of Talent Management will also partner with business leaders to conduct strategic workforce planning, labor availability analysis, calibration of talent and talent planning.

This role will be regional in nature, spanning business units within the geographic region. The Regional Talent Management work impacts all leaders and professional employees in Johnson Controls and is instrumental to the success of the organization.

The Director of Talent Management reports directly to the Vice President, Talent Management and also partners closely with the HR Business Partner lead for the region and relevant businesses and enterprise Talent Management and Talent Acquisition functions.

How you will do it

Talent Development and Data Analysis

Design Talent data standards, policies, and processes for the Johnson Controls Enterprise, globally, including:

  • Understand organizational needs and talent development requirements to address this, and then analyze talent data to determine strategic talent development needs baseline, and build/support programs to address these needs
  • Own talent processes for the region and in partnership with the CHRO and HR Leadership team, analyze talent data and prepare talent and succession reports for the Johnson Controls Board of Directors. Must drive the HRBPs / HR Leaders to create actionable succession plans for critical roles and communicate gaps and risks to the organization
  • Facilitate talent sharing efforts across divisions in the region to fill critical roles and create talent development opportunities. Partner with Learning & Development to determine what learning interventions would be priority for the region
  • Collaborate with Business Leaders, HR Leadership, other CoEs (Talent Acquisition, HR Operations), to ensure the executive coaching/assessment standards are followed, and to equip them with the tools and processes to deliver programs and guidance to the business.

Workforce Planning

  • Define, develop, and operationalize a coordinated workforce planning capability for the enterprise
  • Lead a data driven approach to workforce planning that enables the organization to proactively respond to current & future workforce needs
  • Facilitate process to translate and connect JCI's strategic business decisions to future talent skills required to drive success of the organization.

Organizational Design

  • Partner with the regional senior leaders, the regional HR lead and the HR business partners on organization design to meet business transformation objectives for the region
  • Assess, understand, and articulate merits and benefits of various design options

Talent Assessment and selection

  • Using data, observations, and interviews, to assess and make recommendations about talent alignment to key roles
  • Assess talent pool and candidates for new roles

Additional Responsibilities

  • Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices with Talent Management
  • Lead or participate in HR department sponsored special projects or initiatives pertaining to talent management.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Master's degree in Business, Psychology, Organization Development preferred.
  • Experience with Talent Management, Workforce Planning and Succession Planning preferred
