Director, Technical Program Management
Job Description
In this highly visible role, you will work across the organization with numerous R&D, Product, and cross-functional leaders, leveraging the skills and knowledge of software development strategies, modern technical program management methodologies, and awareness of cloud native practices. You will be accountable for program execution and driving the agreed upon program metrics.
This position requires a highly motivated leader embodying a blend of program management, team leadership, technical competency, executive presence, knowledge of software lifecycle management, and a passion for continuous improvement. This unique leader will personify servant-leadership and succeed in their mission by developing deep relationships based upon humility, empathy, competence, trust, and a passionate pursuit of results.
Responsibilities:
- Lead team of Technical Program Managers responsible for execution of software product development programs across a diverse Healthcare Product Portfolio.
- Drive continued development of Technical Program Management practice across product lines focusing on value add, leadership, and consistent deliverables across programs consistent with the Microsoft Way of Work.
- Continually develop Technical Program Management team's maturity, capability, skills, process, and tools.
- Develop methods and tools to provide enhanced program transparency based upon real time data in a highly collaborative environment.
- Work directly with executive leadership and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement initiatives through the use of quarterly OKRs.
- Lead Annual and Quarterly Product Planning cycles for healthcare development community.
- Propose and deploy a standard set of operational metrics for healthcare development programs to provide telemetry to executive leaders
- Partner with Product Management, Security Program Management and Commercialization teams to define governance structure ensuring identified best practices are socialized and embraced by development teams.
- Establish and lead programs to level-up skills and adoption of Agile + Cloud best practices and preferred tooling.
- Facilitate and demonstrate culture of collaboration and inclusivity with engineering and product teams.
Skill sets and Experiences Required:
- Experience leading enterprise scale development programs deployed to the cloud.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Experience working with executive level product development leadership, including R&D, Product Management, and Line of Business management.
- Bachelor's degree with 15 years of related experience or master's degree with 12 years of related experience.
- Five of years of experience leading Program Management Teams
- Experience in working both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies; including phase / gate models and Scrum (preferably Scrum@Scale and Scaled Agile Framework).
- Deep knowledge of software development process and understanding of software development & project management fundamentals.
- Knowledge of cloud native development, deployment, and support best practices.
- Willingness to get hands-on in establishing initiatives and defining and leading teams executing against initiatives.
- Requires the ability to direct and lead the activities of a functional area and have overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
- Able to collaborate with other senior leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives and make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures operations effective achievement of objectives.
- Experience managing functional areas and establishing and managing operational objectives.
- Expert level knowledge and experience in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Excel is essential in this role incl. ability to build business consultancy level PowerPoint content.
- PMI PMP, CSM, CPO certifications preferred.
