The Role

Cedar is seeking an experienced Director, Total Rewards to help us scale and optimize the function and its programs. This individual will manage our compensation processes and scale our benefits programs by assessing our offerings, developing strategic plans, managing vendor relationships and operationalizing Cedar’s Total Rewards strategy. Reporting to the Chief People Office, the Director, Total Rewards will be a deep collaborator across the People and senior leadership teams and will give strategic guidance on improving the performance of compensation and benefits programs across the company.

You will partner closely with Recruiting, Internal Communications, People Experience, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, etc., and will have direct exposure to and partnership with the Executive team. The Director, Total Rewards will not operate as a siloʻd consultant but rather, a deeply integrated collaborator across many of Cedarʻs key People projects and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and manage a team member who will aid in the development and execution of Cedar’s Total Rewards strategy and its underlying processes
  • Understand the competitive marketplace, business challenges and opportunities in order to effectively maintain the strategy for, design and manage the administration of key compensation and benefits projects, programs, processes and policies as part of our broader Total Direct Compensation program consisting of equity, base, incentive pay, perks and benefits – in alignment with our broader Total Rewards strategy.
  • Manage our Total Direct Compensation program – base, incentive and equity. Work across the senior leadership team on developing annual bonus plans, running merit review cycles and generally ensuring that our Compensation program is meeting the strategic needs of the business.
  • Own the design and implementation of our equity-based compensation including burn rate, overhang analysis and other dilution analysis. Along with Legal, manage equity grant approvals by CedarĘ»s Board of Directors.
  • Administer and own existing benefits programs including group medical/dental/vision insurance, Life & AD&D, HSA, COBRA, FSA, 401(k), leaves of absence, benefits compliance standards, and legislative requirements
  • Explore and analyze benefits costs, manage brokers and vendors to receive highest quality benefits in an on-going effort to maintain equity with current benefit trends and to provide a best-in-class employee experience
  • Answer and resolve employee benefits questions and liaise with the benefits broker on benefits issues
  • Execute all aspects of the annual open enrollment process, oversee employee experience, and coordinate the continuity of care with carrier changes ensuring flawless execution
  • Manage and maintain compliance related to benefits administration: 5500 reporting, NDT, ACA, SFHCSO, FLSA review of new roles, and update employee handbook and labor law postings, etc.
  • Process bi-monthly funding of pre-tax savings accounts
  • Facilitate and manage bi-weekly new hire orientation and as needed, additional compensation and benefits-related training
  • Collaborate with key partners across the organization to focus on developing and maintaining substantial analytics to help drive business decisions, and create short and long-term goals and objectives for the Total Rewards function and strategy
  • Develop and sustain appropriate controls to maintain reliable data and enable scalable reporting solutions
  • Oversee sourcing new software programs, implementation, contract renewals, and external vendor management
  • Serve as the subject matter expert, trusted partner and advisor on all Total Rewards related matters. Collaborate proactively with senior leaders, managers and People Business Partners.
  • Drive the compensation planning process in alignment with our performance evaluation process for the organization to promote a performance culture via compensation modeling, data analytics, and benchmarking.
  • Incorporate external market trends and insights into compensation and benefits recommendations that support the business.
  • Contribute to overall strategic decisions & leadership in the People function while constantly thinking one step ahead

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of progressive strategic Compensation and Benefits experience
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with cross-functional teams and strong collaboration skills.
  • Data driven attitude, and an interest in always finding ways to utilize metrics in decision making.
  • Experience ideating, designing, and implementing reward related programs.
  • Excellent project management skills, effectively balancing scope/time/cost.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation Range and Benefits

  • Salary/Hourly Rate Range*: $204,000 - $240,000
  • This role is equity eligible
  • This role offers a competitive benefits and wellness package
