The Role: 

As our Director, Total Rewards, you will be a founding member of the People Leadership Team. You’ll lead the function, own our total rewards strategy and roadmap to attract and retain the best talent, drive our biannual compensation cycles + annual benefits enrollment process, and drive enhancements and optimizations in how we reward our talent. You’ll partner with our people and business teams to deeply understand how your team can address our current and future business needs. You will also hire, manage, coach, and grow a team of highly engaged and creative team members.

This 100% remote position will report to our Chief People Officer.


Daily Adventures and Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead global Total Rewards team; successfully coach and manage a high-performing, engaged team.
  • Develop an integrated strategy and roadmap for our Total Rewards philosophy, programs, process, and tools to meet business requirements.
  • Identify, implement, and launch a world-class operating model that prioritizes performance, equity, scale, retention, and business goals.
  • Design, implement, and facilitate our global total rewards strategy that aligns our talent, performance, DEI, and retention strategy.Establish, refresh and review our compensation structures, ranges, job families/levels, and conduct job analysis and pricing.
  •  Prepare and present forecasts, analyses, materials, and recommendations on compensation programs and budgeting for leadership.
  • Oversee and support the team in the open enrollment process, benefit offerings, and wellness programs.
  • Partner with Global People Partners, Recruiting, Hiring Managers, and key business leaders on compensation and equity grant recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers, job matching, and job families
  • Partner with other teams within People, Payroll, IT, Finance, and Legal to periodically review and build programs and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment-related federal and state statutory requirements regarding employee pay and benefits.
  • Build deep cross functional relationships and partner with team members across Apollo to understand needs and assess existing Total Reward needs. Identify gaps and inefficiencies.
  • Continually ideate around how to make large and incremental changes to products, services, and processes. Lead thoughtful complex, cross functional solutions to automate, standardize, optimize and centralize work to enhance the employee experience across all geographies.

What We'll Look For (Qualifications):

  • 10+ years of experience in Total Rewards; ideally with 3+ years in a global context
  • 4+ years of people management experience
  • Proven and tested experience implementing and scaling global Total Rewards programs and processes
  • Experience managing large-scale, organization-wide change management
  • Superb people leadership skills
  • Proven prioritization of DEI efforts, including implementing into operations and team management
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent program management capabilities, including managing teams of program managers in a high growth environment
  • A passion for making improvement, learning and driving efficiencies
