We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Director, Treasury Operations on our Finance team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
As a Director, Treasury Operations, you will help direct the cash management, investment, credit and collection functions of the Treasury area. Assist the Corporate Treasurer in the maximization of earnings and the safeguarding of assets in the investment portfolios as well as review of corporate contracts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Treasury Operations
• Oversee the administration, accounting, and budgeting for the investment management activities of the AMA and subsidiaries, AMA defined benefit and contribution plans, in an effort to maximize earnings within acceptable risk tolerances, with portfolio values in excess of $1 billion.
• Oversee the investment performance reporting process for the AMA investment portfolios, AMACO investments, the AMA 401k and Deferred Compensation Plans in conjunction with input from the Corporate Treasurer.
• Assist with the management of the trust relationship with banks and investment advisor, including the AMA investment portfolios, the pension plan, and the AMA's 401(k) plan.
• Develop and maintain efficient and effective credit policies that safeguard the Association from risk of loss without impairing the Association's ability to expand business operations in a prudent fashion.
• Serve as a key advisor to the Corporate Treasurer in the formation of financial policies and strategies, analysis of business developments and situations, and development of financial reporting and analysis.
• Oversee the cash management and treasury functions of the Association in such a way as to maximize investment revenues through effective cash management making maximum use of bank services in a cost-effective manner.
Finance Committee
• Assist in the preparation of the following presentations to the Board Finance Committee: annual investment policy review; annual investment manager review; annual reserve policy review and special topics as required.
• Assist with Reporting to the AMA Finance Committee on all investment results and investment manager selections.
People Management
• Lead, mentor, evaluate, and develop assigned staff with varied professional disciplines, ensuring they are integrated into work and discussions across the unit.
• Set direction, objectives, and project priorities.
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's Degree with major in Accounting required. MBA preferred.
2. CPA preferred.
3. Minimum of 10+ years treasury experience required; experience in a corporate setting organization preferred.
4. Minimum 5+ years' experience in people management; must be able to manage and develop talent through ongoing training, mentoring, measurement, and feedback.
5. Successful experience and in-depth expertise in cash management and investment management crucial for success.
6. Demonstrated experience in financial analysis capital markets, treasury operations and debt management required.
7. Excellent written communication skills required.
8. Polished oral communication and presentation skills required to communicate with leadership.
9. Strong interpersonal skills needed.
10. Limited travel required.
