Job Description

This position leads the development and execution of the venture investment activities of Rockwell Automation and associated support for its various business units. Primary areas of focus and strength should be in the following: venture capital, fund management, financial analysis, valuation modeling, due diligence and other investment related activities.

More specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide industry insight into venture investments and best practices.
  • Seek out new investment opportunities. Utilize new and existing relationships to source investments that fit the Rockwell Automation venture investment strategy.
  • Execute venture investment activities with Rockwell Automation business, advanced technology and geographic leaders in order to achieve long-term profitable growth and insight into disruptive technology.
  • Lead and support all aspects of the transactional process including but not limited to the following: developing company profiles, evaluating/bench marking of target companies/buyers, completing valuation models and other relevant financial analyses, coordinating and leading due diligence, assisting with contract negotiation, and preparing management approval presentations.
  • Serve as project leader across all functions from initial contact through closing transaction stages.
  • Build cross functional relationships with key focus on finance, legal, and business teams to assure transaction success.
  • Source, manage and monitor an active list of investment candidates which supports Rockwell Automation's growth in key areas and targeted disruptive technologies.
  • Support the development, preparation, and finalization of presentations submitted to Rockwell Automation's Executive Team, Board of Directors and Venture Capital Council, on behalf of Corporate Development.
  • Act as Corporate Development's venture capital representative and key interface for special projects initiated and coordinated by Strategic Development (i.e. Market/Benchmarking Studies, Growth Initiatives, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting or related business field required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job posting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of investment or portfolio management experience in venture capital, private equity, or growth equity, or working at an incubator or accelerator.
  • Experience in leading venture deal execution (corporate venture capital experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of fund management, corporate finance, and venture investments
  • Understanding of valuation modeling methods and capitalization table analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation or the automation industry
  • Existing network and contact base in industrial automation and software
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
  • Requires strong self-initiative to continually expand knowledge, and process improve own activities and duties
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives.
  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
  • Superior analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience and demonstrated maturity in verbal and written communication with all levels of an organization, including the senior executive level.
  • Strong background in business case development and financial analysis required to support business development opportunities.
  • Successful track record in complex transactional negotiations
  • Experience in corporate venture capital or corporate development preferred.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $176,480 - $264,720 with an annual target bonus of 20% of base salary, with opportunity for equity and stock grants. Our Company benefits can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education and experience.
