Disaster Recovery Specialist, DevOps Engineer (Freelance)

As Instrument prepares for our winter break at the end of the year, we require an experienced freelance DevOps Engineer to be available on an as needed basis to watch over a client's microsite that will go live on 12/15/23. This Engineer will ensure the site's reliability and performance by addressing any maintenance issues that may arise and will play a critical role in maintaining the seamless operation of the microsite.
Dates: 12/18/23 - 1/12/2024
Hours: up to 20 hrs/week

What You'll Do
- Monitor the health of applications and responding to alerts, such as service down, failed backup, and slow response time using existing monitoring solutions and documented disaster recovery plans
- Troubleshoot technical issues (JavaScript, Cloud etc.) or escalate and work with appropriate technology teams to provide solutions
- Call facilitation, coordination and communications during critical outage situations
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in DevOps and site reliability, with a focus on monitoring, incident response, and maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with expertise in JavaScript, Cloud technologies, and microservices.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for handling critical incidents.
- Proficiency in systems administration and change management practices.
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and reporting tools.
- In-depth knowledge of network technologies and cloud-native applications.
- Experience with file transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP) and encryption technologies (SSL/TLS, PKI).
- Understanding of security controls as applied to software technologies.
- Solid understanding of network technologies
Pay Range
- The expected pay range for this role is $65-103 per hour but will depend on the level in which you are engaged
- Our company has three regional pay bands that it adheres to depending on your location, we reference them as US 1, US 2, and US 3.
- US 3 is our base pay. Examples of cities in US 3 are Portland, Houston and Miami.
- US 2 pay is 7.5% higher than US 3 to meet the market rates. Examples of cities in US 2 are Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
- US 1 pay is 15% higher than US 3 to meet market rates. Examples of cities in US 1 are Brooklyn and San Francisco.
