Disaster & Resiliency Specialist (US Based Remote)

What you will be doing
Individuals in the Disaster recovery role are responsible for the development, integration and implementation of the enterprise IT service continuity and disaster recovery management programs. The objective of these programs is to support timely operations recovery following the occurrence of an outage or major disasters, such as fires, earthquakes, floods, biochemical attacks and pandemics, which result in the partial or complete disruption of business operations. These individuals must ensure financial loss is minimized or eliminated and critical customer service capabilities remain operational. They plan and coordinate business continuity and disaster recovery strategies that comply with applicable regulations. They develop risk management procedures, continuity scenarios and contingency plans for systems and networks to maintain operations during downtime and/or major disasters. Periodically they test contingency capabilities, report deficiencies, and identify and coordinate resolution of issues. Individuals coordinate all hardware, software and network requirements with backup facility, IT team, and vendors to ensure the required configurations are in place. They also evaluate and select vendors and develop service level risk management agreements with business partners and vendors. Service Continuity professionals must have strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with other recovery team members. In addition, knowledge of business processes is required. They also demonstrate extensive knowledge in networking, databases and systems operations, and are skilled in complex problem analysis.
- Develops and operates Service Continuity solutions and services across the enterprise
- Contributes strategic and tactical direction and consultation on Service Continuity initiatives.
- Identifies requirements, constraints, tasks and outcomes in project and operational planning activities.
- Implements the policies, procedures and standards to meet compliance responsibilities.
- Contributes to defining service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure that security controls are developed, managed and maintained.
- Design and document updates to policies, procedures and standards.
- Contributes to development of processes and procedures for the Cybersecurity Program.
- Monitors and analyzes information security performance reports and handles or escalates issues as needed.
- Works with customers to identify continuity requirements using methods that may include risk and business impact assessments.
- Works closely with IT and development teams to design resilient solutions, facilitating the implementation of protective and mitigating controls.
- Interacts with 3rd parties to review Disaster Recovery plans, provides input to business stakeholders regarding potential issues and risk.
- Works with business stakeholders and 3rd parties to review results of BIA analysis and provides options for the remediation of gaps and risks.
- Reviews risk assessments, analyzes the effectiveness of information security control activities, and reports on them with actionable recommendations.
- Oversees risks assessments for high availability, disaster recovery and cyber recovery.
- Facilitates the creation of Disaster Recovery Plans with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
- Facilitates the execution of Disaster Recovery Plans for exercise and events, ensures goals are achieved, issues are documented for remediation, conducts after-action reviews.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
What your background should look like
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or other related field, or equivalent work experience. Typically requires 5 - 7 years of IT work experience related to the high availability, disaster recovery and/or business continuity functions.Professional certification related to IT Service Continuity from industry organization (CBCP, MBCP, etc) and/or other technical or managerial certifications (CCNE, CISSP, CISA, CISM, etc) strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills in order to operate effectively with company systems and programs; working knowledge of applicable computer applications used at ABC
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Working knowledge of network solutions and systems
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of various diverse scope in a cross-functional environment
- Understanding of IT services such as networking, hosting, cloud services, storage and database concepts
- Experience in the evaluation of BIA results and IT capabilities

$93,500 - 143,990
*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
