As a Distinguished Architect, you will be a key technical leader and a role model within the organization. You will be helping to build highly scalable platforms and services for the Autodesk COO organization, that will support millions of customers and thousands of internal employees across sales, finance, marketing and product access business processes.

Responsibilities

• You will lead the architecture and technical vision of building and operating highly scalable, distributed, data intensive platform and services
• You will partner closely with other product teams and the leadership in defining the strategic technical roadmap, communicate the strategy in various forums, and make it a reality
• You will identify and lead cross functional opportunities, partner with your peers in the company, and connect business objectives with the technical vision
• You will champion adopting industry best practices to push the development standards on the team and in the larger organization
• You will align the technical direction with business needs, leading the team to make the correct compromises between short-term business opportunity and long-term technical vision
• You will lead Domain Modeling and Data Modeling of complex systems, partnering with Product Managers, UX Designers and other Architects
• You will help to hire, mentor Engineers, help build fast-growing and high-performing teams
• You will work with multiple teams, perform thorough design and code reviews, drive best practices to clean and maintainable code

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and data management
• You are conversant in multiple programming languages
• You have thorough knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing concepts
• You have exceptional proficiency in programming languages like Java or Node Js
• You have been building and running large scale systems professionally for 12+ years and can point to things you've worked on
• You have 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership or architect role, leading design of complex systems
• You have a deep understanding of database systems (e.g. MySQL, Dynamo DB) including scalability, performance, and consistency characteristics
• You are proficient in API Design using REST, GraphQL, or gRPC
• You have experience in improving performance and reliability of complex systems
• You are curious how things work and enjoy fixing when things break
• You are a strong communicator. You enjoy synthesizing, simplifying, and articulating complex problems to different types of audience, including executives
• You are an enthusiastic learner who approaches interactions with an open mind; you are a great listener and are willing to take on and provide feedback
• You are passionate about building strong and enduring relationships
• You can articulate yourself clearly with purpose; able to explain your area of expertise clearly and confidently to others; and influences and engage with confidence
• You can confidently and effectively facilitate and present; able to keep audiences engaged and deliver a clear message
• You are collaborative and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• You have experience in building mission critical systems for a SaaS platform, product or business
• You have expertise in Domain object modeling, Data Modeling and making database choices
• You have built products and services on Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• You have built offline-first application architectures for Desktop and Mobile applications
• You have experience working with Product Management and User Experience to build Product Roadmap and Technology/Architecture vision
• You have contributed to open-source projects and/or research in large scale data and distributed systems
• You have experience in monitoring and improving Reliability of a complex system at scale
• You are aware of Security and Compliance challenges in Cloud products and/or platforms

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $176,800 and $286,000. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
