How will your role help us transform hope into reality?
Blueprint Medicines is seeking a highly motivated, extremely organized, and collaborative Distinguished Scientist, Open Innovation to work in a fast-paced environment across R&D and Business Development. In this unique role, you will both be a key team member on the Business Development core team and a team leader within Research. You will work closely with colleagues in Business Development, New Product Planning, Discovery, Translational Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Clinical Development to advance internal discovery programs and to evaluate external partnering opportunities. These activities will impact our therapeutic programs in both Oncology/Hematology and Immunology/Inflammation therapeutic areas.

What will you do?
Serve as the lead representative from Research on the Business Development Core Team
- Lead research efforts for all triage activities, drawing on subject matter experts (SMEs) within Research and Development as required
- Participate in all single asset/platform diligence activities, again coordinating SME engagement
- Partner with BD team and New Product Planning to refine our landscape analyses for areas of interest
- Partner with teams who are evaluating potential major academic collaborations, in order to ensure consistency of approach and add scientific/strategic insights
- Act as a key partner to BD Leadership, prioritize BD engagement above other activities
Serve as a project leader within Research
- Serve as a Project Team Leader (PTL) for at least one program in early phase drug discovery
- As appropriate and the need arises, serve as a PTL for either a Hit-to-Lead or Lead Optimization program
- Advance programs through key decision points, while collaboratively engaging team members and extended team members across R&D
Engage as a senior leader within Blueprint Research & Development
- Serve as a member of the Science Leadership Team (SLT), and contribute to discussions at regular review meetings within Research
- Actively contribute to the formulation and evolution of our overall scientific portfolio strategy
- More broadly impact the achievement of cross-functional Research goals
- Serve as a mentor for one or more projects that can benefit from mentor engagement
What minimum qualifications do we require?
- Doctoral Degree (MD, PhD) plus 15 years relevant industry experience in both research and early development
What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?
- Extensive project leadership experience in small molecule drug discovery, in both Oncology and Immunology
- Extensive experience with due diligence on external opportunities
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Passion for participating in a fast-paced environment characterized by challenging and rigorous science, and creative thinking
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills; ability to articulate vision, inspire others, and deliver results
- Project leadership experience in additional modalities (e.g., targeted protein degradation, antibodies, RNAi, etc.)
- This is a Cambridge role, although remote applicants will be considered. If performing this job remotely, then the ideal candidate will be able to on campus at least 4 days/month and as requested to meet special events.
