The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist assists in spearheading the Toro Company's (TTC) efforts to realize a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. This leader partakes in the design, development, and implementation of DEI strategies, programs, policies, and metrics. The DEI Specialist helps bring a centralized focus to DEI program management and employee listening efforts, as well as shape internal and/or external communication and outreach strategy.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and business leaders to knit DEI practices into the fabric of how the Company attracts, hires, develops, and retains talent.
- Provide program management oversight and assistance to DEI committees and Employee Resource Groups (ERG) in support of their ambitions aligned with business needs.
- Work closely with the Learning & Development team to curate appropriate and relevant program content for the organization.
- Partner with the Talent Management team to drive impactful long-term talent management strategies positioning the Organization for success.
- Collaborate with talent analytics to define, monitor, and report key metrics to evaluate impact of DEI work.
- Create communications in various media and formats for internal and/or external audiences and purposes.
- Co-own the employer value proposition strategy, focused on reaching broad audiences through story-driven outreach that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with the University Relations and Talent Acquisition teams to build rich talent pipelines enabling immense organizational success.
- Partner with the engagement team and HR Business Partners to develop and deploy wholistic employee engagement and listening initiatives.
- Work closely with the Corporate Giving team to maximize philanthropic giving to support the organizational strategy.
- Enthusiastically represent The Toro Company in the community, fostering connections, alliances, networks, and learning with industry professionals and local organizations that support diversity and inclusion. Share learnings with TTC colleagues and make recommendations based on gained insights.
- Perform other tasks and assignments as requested.
Other Job-Related Components:
• On-site/Hybrid with three days on-site in Bloomington, MN headquarters location.
• Working conditions: typical office working environment.
• Travel expectation: Up to 20%.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 5 or more years of experience working in Human Resources or a related field with specific experience in DEI initiatives.

- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with, lead, and influence others in a team-oriented environment.
- Exercise sound judgment, decision making, and discretion in dealing with sensitive information.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in person or in a virtual environment.
- Build trust, display empathy, and facilitate courageous conversations.
- Possess a basic understanding of US state, federal, and country laws that may impact or regulate diversity, equality, and inclusion-related practices and collaborate effectively with internal and external legal experts.
