Division Sales Engineer
Job Description
This is a "Hybrid" role - 3 days in the offie, 2 days work from home.
Position Overview:
The Division Sales Engineer will support North American Sales on the Busway product line, in engineered to order (ETO) negotiations and applications. This role will have responsibility to reconcile orders, complete specification reviews, provide product application support, and pricing authority, managed to price bands as determined by sales manager. The DSE will have engineering expertise to encompass all Busway related applications including Low Voltage Busway, Medium Voltage Busway, and track style bus.
The Division Sales Engineer will provide a range of engineering services to interpret complex customer drawings and specifications for manufacturing of associated product design and complex circuits to meet application requirements. They will create complex engineering documentation for drafting, procurement, and manufacturing. Lead coordination and technical guidance to product engineering and production personnel as appropriate. Support and lead product marketing on a project basis and provide negotiation and application support for field sales in more complex product areas.
- Maintain current knowledge/ expertise of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities, practices, market conditions, and channels.
- Develop product quotations with detailed technical and commercial clarifications using sound tactical pricing.
- Provide complex engineering functions in support of product marketing, manufacturing, and sales in line with company and product line objectives.
- Support field sales efforts by the developing of technical information and competitive analysis as tools of value to enhance sales performance.
- Provide training to Customers and Field Sales.
- Serve as primary division contact for customers as technical liaison in all aspects of product application, performance, and compliance to specifications and problem solutions.
- Oversee the handling of complex negotiations providing expertise in the areas of technical recommendations, product application, etc. in line with product line objectives.
- Manage assigned territory with objectives contributing to the product line in areas of volume, price, product mix, shipping performance, product warranties, and complete customer satisfaction.
- Review and analyze product configurations and components, design circuits, perform calculations and provide input to other departments including drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing.
- Support company activities such as product design, market and product communications, competitive analysis, customer relations, productivity, cost, quality, and safety improvements.
- Coordinate and lead customer project review/drawing approval meetings.
- Provide instructions to division and field sales personnel in product applications, features, engineering methods, and other technical related topics.
- Participate and lead in customer inspections and witness tests.
- Provide project management of orders to meet OTP objectives, reduce cycle times, manage changes to order requirements and assist with product warranty.
- Provide training and leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians.
- Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned.
- Must be able to travel as necessary to effectively interface with customers and other required contacts, to work at various outside/inside site locations, and to manage or participate in company related projects, activities, or other job-related assignments.
- Manage the negotiations of special segment and/or geographical locations.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in engineering, sales, sales support, marketing, or product management with technical products.
- Must be able to travel as necessary to effectively interface with customers and other required contacts. Able to work at other job-related assignments.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing from an accredited institution
- Strong working knowledge of e-Tools, Bid Manager, Mentor, Sales Reporting, VISTA.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Electrical Engineering experience with Electrical Distribution and Protection technology
- Ability to communicate technical information to customers
- Strong presentation and customer service skills
