Domain Architect - Telco-Edge Solutions / Cloud Native

Job Description

We are looking for a Telco-focused Domain Solution Architect to bring deep technical expertise to our global team, helping us address customer challenges in the telecommunications industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive Telco pre-sales experience, a strong technical background, and the ability to work effectively in a global, cross-cultural environment. In this role, you will support the Sales organization Solution Architects and other teams with deep domain skills in Telco, cloud-native, container, and edge technologies.
As part of the SUSE family, you’ll be leveraging cutting-edge technologies to help telecommunications customers thrive in their digital transformation journey. While operating within our sales organization, the essential focus of this position remains that of a deep technical specialist—helping solve current and future customer problems, influencing strategic direction, and evangelizing the solutions that SUSE has today.
Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and Customer Facing:
  • Opportunity Advancement: Collaborate with sales representatives to move opportunities through qualification, proof/evaluation, proposal, and closure phases (knowledge of MEDDIC/MEDDPIC preferred).
  • Technical Guidance: Provide presales technical assistance in formulating complex solutions and offerings, while also supporting POCs and deep technical demonstrations.
  • Trusted Advisor: Be a trusted advisor, guiding customers in defining their technology goals and implementing practical, scalable solutions.
  • Technical Discussions: Support SAs in technical discussions, lead deeper-dive conversations when needed, and work on POCs with customers to validate solutions.
  • Proposal Development: Research and draft responses to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and other teams.
  • Customer Engagement: Assess customer business needs and apply SUSE’s Telco solutions (Rancher Prime, ATIP, Harvester, SL Micro, etc.) to their IT landscapes.
  • Liaison Role: Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams such as Technical Support and R&D to resolve challenges.
  • Internal Facing:
  • Sales Support: Contribute to complex solution development to meet sales targets.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with regional teams to co-create go-to-market strategies and capitalize on strategic growth opportunities.
  • Marketing Assistance: Support both field and online marketing initiatives, collaborating on content development.
  • Product Alignment: Ensure alignment with Marketing and Product Management for current and future product capabilities, driving product innovation.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Share insights and best practices with fellow Solution Architects, helping to elevate the team’s expertise.


What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive Presales Experience: Proven ability to translate technical knowledge into engaging proposals, presentations, demos, and workshops, especially in the Telco domain with a deep understanding of core networks, RAN, and Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
  • Technical Communication Skills: Skilled at simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, highlighting both business and technical value.
  • Leadership Abilities: Capable of coordinating internal and external teams, influencing stakeholders, and driving results.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expertise with Linux systems, provisioning, patch management, and configuration management technologies.
    • In-depth understanding of the Telco market, including core networks, RAN, fixed access, and Network Function Virtualization.
    • Knowledge of container management and cloud-native computing technologies.
    • Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud infrastructure and DevOps technologies, including containers, Kubernetes, security, and the Edge space.
    • Experience in building complex solution architectures.
  • Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel as needed to meet with global teams and customers.
