Domain Head - Translation, Computational Catalysts
Job Description
At Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) we have initiated an exciting journey to bring together and further strengthen our computational talent and capabilities by forming a new, central organization - gRED Computational Sciences (gCS). gCS is on a mission to partner across the organization to realize the potential of data, technology and computational approaches that will revolutionize how targets and therapeutics are discovered and developed, ultimately enabling novel treatments for patients across the world. We stand at the beginning of an exciting journey.
The Computational Catalysts group within gCS is a diverse, curious and action-driven team at the intersection of computation, engineering and science with ambition to advance our technical excellence. The focus of the team is on partnering with the informatics and scientific communities to create a computational and data ecosystem that powers scientific discovery and accelerates decision making. We aim to modernize our ability to acquire, store, link, share, find and analyze data across the organization through scalable and integrated solutions that make every data point count. Reporting directly to the VP, Computational Catalysts and as a member of the Computational Catalysts Leadership Team the Domain Head - Translation will, in conjunction with leadership level stakeholders both within gCS and across gRED, play a key role in co-creating overarching computational strategies and ensuring achievement of high priority outcomes and impact, which will underpin work across the entire Computational Catalysts organization.
The Domain Head - Translation is a well-established and highly credible visionary and leader who provides strategic leadership to the Computational Catalyst organization, has outstanding collaboration capabilities, and can influence without authority. You will focus on establishing close working partnerships and ensuring alignment with stakeholders in Development Sciences, Early Clinical Development, and Translational Medicine organizations within gRED as well as Global Product Development (Late Stage). These groups are all motivated by using patient data of various different modalities to study the impact of molecules and therapies throughout the drug development lifecycle to inform decision making. By building strong relationships with data generators and consumers within gRED, broader Roche Group, as well as with the Computational Biology & Translation (CBT) pillar within gCS, you will co-create computational strategies, define high priority outcomes and impact, and ensure they are reflected in the Catalyst portfolio. You will provide matrix leadership to multiple Computational Catalyst teams assigned to efforts in this domain to enable and coordinate achievement of outcomes and ensure delivery of impact for our stakeholders. You will also make decisions around legacy systems and tools in this space, deciding when and how to decommission/transition to more modern solutions. You will partner closely with other leaders in gCS, gRED and globally in pRED to identify and capitalize on potential synergies between strategies and solutions. You will also be responsible for understanding and articulating stakeholder needs so they are well understood within the Catalysts organization and more broadly across gCS and gRED. Finally, as a member of the Catalysts LT, the Domain Head will be responsible for working with the other LT members and the VP to ensure the successful implementation of the Translation computational strategies and outcomes, while always thinking into the future to define forward-thinking solutions to address emerging needs.
