Job Description

Engage Building Products is a leader in architectural aluminum trim systems for lap siding, panel systems, and aluminum composite materials (ACM). Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, we manufacture and distribute our products across Canada and the United States.

Our systems represent the forefront of building envelope innovation — featuring cutting-edge technologies, numerous patents granted and pending, and a commitment to precision design and superior performance. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for talented professionals who are passionate about quality, innovation, and design excellence.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Aluminum Extrusion Draftsperson to join our product development and design team. In this role, you will create, revise, and maintain technical drawings and CAD models for aluminum extrusion profiles, components, and assemblies.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with aluminum extrusion design, strong AutoCAD proficiency, and a deep understanding of dimensional tolerances and manufacturability. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure all drawings meet technical, aesthetic, and production requirements.

This position is ideal for a precision-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where innovation, accuracy, and teamwork are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for aluminum extrusion dies, profiles, components, and assemblies.
  • Interpret customer specifications, engineering notes, and industry standards to produce manufacturable, production-ready designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure design feasibility, clarity, and alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and profile libraries.
  • Assist in the design and development of new extrusion profiles for both custom and standard applications.
  • Support prototype testing and validation, ensuring alignment with performance and aesthetic requirements.
  • Maintain version control and organized records of all drawings, revisions, and supporting data.
  • Recommend design or process improvements that enhance efficiency, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools is an asset.
  • Experience in aluminum extrusion design and fabrication drawings is required.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances, extrusion design principles, and material behavior.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, organized technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic production environment.
