Job Description

This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA’s family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

This role is located onsite at our TIAA office in Virtual, NJ, USA but will currently be remote.

The anticipated term of this engagement will be 4 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs.


The Application & Development Support job focuses on developing multiple types and categories of software including end-user applications and operating systems software, that provides a platform for running end user applications. While working independently with limited supervision, this job applies up-to-date information on the detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conducts requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics.
  • Consults with systems engineers and architects on developing IT standards for the business while facilitating the translation of client requirements into technical designs for large IT solutions.
  • Uses programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code.
  • Models key business processes and critical paths while assessing the impact of technology on business processes.
  • Supports software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolves activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements.
  • Maintains records for the documentation of systems development and revisions.
  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.

Nuveen, a subsidiary of TIAA, is looking for Oracle / Eagle Developer to join Middle Office Technology team. Candidate must have significant hands-on Technical and Functional Analysis experience with the Eagle Investment Management System. Candidate will be using Oracle, SQL Server, Autosys, Scripting tools to design and develop solution. Candidate will work closely with Business Analyst, Project Manager, QA team and Business partner to develop, test and deploy solution to production. 

  • Document current state technical workflows across the business areas defined in the summary and design end to end strategic workflows meeting key business and operational needs
  • Work closely with Project Manager, Business Analyst and QA team and ensure development is completed on time.
  • Follow SDLC / Agile methodologies to make sure timely completion of development.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university. BS / BA
  • Oracle, SQL Server, Autosys, shell/Perl scripting knowledge is required.
  • Ability to write complex SQL to query large data sets within Eagle PACE
  • Development experience in ETL tool such as data stage is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Eagle Investment Systems suite of products: STAR, PACE,
  • Ability to document current and target state business functional workflows using tools such as Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint

     

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to display independent judgment to make decisions where no clear precedents exist;
  • Ability to follow Hybrid Project Management Methodologies using Waterfall and SCRUM across projects and programs
  • Understanding of Corporate Action, Trade Processing, Portfolio Accounting, Derivatives workflows and Collateral Management business concepts
