We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a EC Communications Specialist I on our Enterprise Communications team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As a EC Communications Specialist I you will assist in the development and distribution of messages to AMAemployees; supports the information flow to and from employees and strategiesto engage employees through internal communications tactics. Assist in thedistribution of a broad breadth of AMA internal communications content. Assist in developing unique and engaging content, events and projects.Responsible for tracking defined metrics to measure our efforts against ourstrategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Written Content

  • Assist in developing original written news stories that connect AMA's internal content generators, including AMA news, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Journal of Ethics (JOE) and social media, for one internal platform on AMA's intranet, AMAtoday.
  • Draft, compile, and proofread the content for AMA's twice-weekly digital employee newsletter, MyConnection, according to editorial content strategy. Collect and promote content via partnerships with intranet content managers, HR partners and communication colleagues on various internal platforms.

Visual and other Content

  • Assist in producing multimedia storytelling elements for all internal channels.
  • Assist in designing and drafting content for the editorial calendar for the organization's digital signage; troubleshoot digital signage.

Team and Event Support

  • Tracks metrics for internal campaigns and events including the all-employee meeting, Employee Appreciation Day and other employee meetings.
  • Promote, attend, and report on Enterprise Social Responsibility efforts on internal AMA channels.
  • Collaborate with HR Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team and AMA Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to plan and elevate DEI and ERG content to increase employee awareness and engagement.
  • As needed, participate in other projects supporting internal business units related to employee communication that may need support.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree preferred in Journalism, English, Marketing or related discipline. Additional coursework and experience in digital media technology preferred.
  2. Minimum 1+ years of experience Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing Communications or related field required.
  3. Strong knowledge of AP writing.
  4. Proven ability to write in various styles, including organizational communication, in-depth storytelling/newswriting, and promotional writing.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to develop relationships both internally and externally.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of using data to inform communications and marketing strategies.
  7. Strong focus on customer experience. Demonstrated understanding of how storytelling can effectively connect and engage an audience.
  8. Familiar with web publishing, including an understanding of and an interest in learning more about AMA's internal digital platforms.
  9. Ability to perform in a high visibility team environment, as well as be a strong individual contributor in a professional environment with quick turn-around. Manages competing projects effectively. Demonstrates a sense of initiative and professionalism. High attention to detail across all mediums of communication.
  10. AMA's safety and policy protocols require proof of full vaccination against COVID19 for employment at AMA (including booster when eligible). Employees may apply for a religious or medical exemption from getting the vaccine.
