Job Description
The primary goals of the Senior eDiscovery Analyst is to support the technical aspects of the legal hold and eDiscovery processes and to provide ongoing support to the Discovery Manager as well as to the Litigation, Government Investigations, and Regulatory Enforcement attorneys in the Legal Department. The discovery team is responsible for ensuring the integrity the discovery process and the timely collection and delivery of data in connection with a variety of matters, including government inquiries, internal investigations, fiduciary and commercial litigation demands, and other external requests. The Senior eDiscovery Analyst will be responsible for working with the in-house legal team, outside counsel, and vendors to coordinate discovery activities related to litigation and other legal matters and to serve as the subject matter expert providing in-depth consulting and leadership to internal and external stakeholders to assist in the development and execution a discovery plan.
The Senior eDiscovery Analyst will also be a key team member on a variety of projects involving data sitting across numerous platforms at Northern Trust to ensure that the data lifecycle accounts for litigation and discovery needs. The Senior eDiscovery Analyst will be a liaison between Legal and other stakeholders in Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Privacy to escalate any concerns about responsible and defensible data management consistent with current best practices.
Major Duties:
1. Work with case teams and other stakeholders to provide project management and process support for litigations and other legal matters throughout all phases of discovery.
2. Under attorneys' or discovery manager's direction, proactively issue legal hold-related communications and track responses.
3. Lead electronic discovery efforts, including by conducting custodian interviews and facilitating document collection efforts, to ensure timely and accurate completion of document collection.
4. Interact with partners (e.g., relationship managers, Legal Department, Human Resources) or external parties (e.g., law enforcement, regulators, other financial institutions, investigations staff) in the course of investigations or information gathering for litigation matters, as appropriate.
5. At the direction of attorneys, perform sophisticated data searches to preserve, identify, collect, and produce materials needed in responding to third-party requests and subpoenas.
6. Proactively seek opportunities to refine and enhance the legal hold, preservation, and collection process and assist discovery manager to ensure technologies in use for legal hold, email archival, and eDiscovery hosting technologies are evaluated, implemented and managed in accordance with current legal standards.
7. Act as the liaison between the legal department, IT, and other stakeholders on legal hold and discovery issues.
8. Represent Legal on a variety of data-driven projects to ensure that litigation and discovery needs are taken into consideration in the design of systems, applications, and processes operating across the organization.
9. Troubleshoot, research, diagnose, and resolve reported incidents and issues.
10. Work with the Discovery Manager, as requested, to perform a variety of complex legal-related tasks and special projects to ensure the effective operation of the discovery function.
11. Document process flows and steps so they can be repeated with consistency and accuracy.

Experience:• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. • 2-5 years of legal, business, consulting or relevant technical experience with a focus in discovery and/or data lifecycle management. • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and client-service orientation.• Knowledge of software used in the legal hold and electronic discovery processes. • Working knowledge of enterprise-class production IT systems such as Exchange email, ERP systems, and SharePoint.• Experience with collection best practices and procedures.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable effective and professional communication with senior, peer, and junior colleagues, attorneys, and vendors.• Proven ability to work independently and solve problems with minimum supervision.• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.• Must be a solution oriented professional with a focus on problem solving and collaboration as a key member of a cross-functional team.• Ability to adapt to daily activities that may be presented as rush requests.• Basic searching knowledge in Outlook.• Experience with Microsoft Purview and Exterro Legal Hold Software & Preservation Tools.
