The Rogue Valley Times, a growing local news organization committed to "digital first, then print" coverage of Medford, Oregon, the Rogue Valley and beyond, is seeking an experienced editor to take the helm in the newsroom and help guide our coverage to continued success.

Medford - population 87,000 - is a fast growing city in southern Oregon, serving as a regional shopping and healthcare center on the I-5 corridor. The wider area, including Jackson County, is home to over a quarter of a million residents. The area boosts exceptional entertainment, wineries and outdoor activities.

As the top newsroom leader and a member of the Times' management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing a team of section editors and reporters, plus coordinating with the page design team. The editor, along with the publisher, will be the face of the paper and become deeply connected to community issues, events and organizations. The editor will also lead the opinion page editorial board and is responsible for writing a popular weekly editor's column.

While the paper is printed three times per week, reporting is published daily online, seven days per week. The Rogue Valley Times benefits from a growing paid circulation base of print and digital subscribers and the new editor will lead a growing and sustainable local newsroom.

At least five solid years of leadership in a newsroom is required, along with outstanding coaching skills and a desire to be part of this community.
