Job Description
Diversified Communications is seeking an Editor to join our growing company! The Editor for American Society of Administrative Professionals www.asaporg.com is a skilled writer who exudes enthusiasm and expertise in digital media creation for the administrative support profession. The Editor must be a self-starter, someone who can develop unique and innovative content, in addition to managing multiple projects simultaneously. The editor will oversee the development and strategic planning of training content that marketing can use to inform and engage audiences.
The goal of all content is to help administrative and executive support professionals obtain answers to questions and develop their skills to better support their managers, directors, or executives. A commitment to consistent content creation along with a strong desire to grow a digital brand and revenue are essential. The Editor will be responsible for all written content, including managing freelance contributing editors, as well as creation of special reports and case studies. A willingness to network and build contacts within the industry is vital to succeeding in this position. This position oversees a digital content coordinator and works directly with passionate trainers and contributors as well as internal conference, marketing, and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and deliver on editorial calendars and strategic plans, including regular news and feature content, as well as long-term projects such as special reports and case studies
- Partner with Marketing team to conduct research to uncover market trends and customer insights that ASAP should have a perspective on
- Maintain and build a network of freelance contributors and expert sources while overseeing a freelance budget
- Create and edit original training blog posts and feature-length articles for asaporg.com
- Manage in-house style guide and handbook; edit content using in-house style guide, along with Associated Press style guide
- Align written content efforts with digital content coordinator overseeing special projects' multimedia content (podcasts, videos, digital summits, etc.)
- Collaborate with digital content coordinator and marketing team to drive traffic to com through social and other digital channels
- Understand and monitor site health and performance metrics using Google Analytics and provide input and recommendations to increase readership
- Serve as a trusted advisor in understanding where the market is going, and the content needed to continually serve targeted audiences
- Advise the product team on topics and trends for upcoming event programs
- Author research-backed points of view that can be socialized internally and leveraged by leadership, sales, and product teams to initiate meaningful conversations with our clients and prospects as well as support business or product decisions
- Work with the larger marketing team in an innovative, fast-paced, and creative workspace to write and edit sharp, differentiated, audience-focused thought leadership
- Comfortable speaking on ASAP's behalf, presenting at our events, hosting and guest speaking on podcasts, and participating in panel discussions
We are seeking a candidate with 3-5 years' relevant experience, which may include a degree in journalism and/or communication, and has experience working with a B2C publication and/or digital product. The ideal candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, a knack for developing and promoting an audience through content and social media platforms, and experience using data and web analytical tools to understand and respond to the preferences of readership. The role requires someone to behighly organized, independent, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven, with strong project management skills. The role requires people and project management experience, along with the ability to collaborate with a small but passionate team producing regular content and long-term projects is necessary.
This is a supervisory role and will require travel.
