Job Description
- Interact professionally with internal departments within Little Brown Young Readers and HBG, including design, publicity, marketing, production, and sales.
- Perform administrative duties, including scheduling, photocopying, handling mail, filing, directing/responding to inquiries, ordering office supplies, maintaining book archives, filing expense reports, coordinating business travel, maintaining contact database, misc. research projects, etc.
- Communicate with authors and agents about project status, payments, review news, etc.
- Prepare related materials for book projects through all stages of the editorial process from acquisition through final book.
- Request production cost quotes and prepare profit-and-loss statements.
- Enter title data into proprietary database systems and maintain data throughout publishing process.
- Draft and circulate contract forms.
- Draft catalog, flap/cover and other descriptive copy and fact sheets that will be used to explain books to the sales and marketing departments.
- Attend, prepare materials, and take/distribute minutes for editorial meetings, and marketing and sales meetings as required.
- Read, report on, log in, track, and respond to submissions of projects targeted to children and young adults
- Research book sales using internal and external databases.
- Participate in brainstorming meetings and share ideas for books and other products.
