Editorial & Communications Director
Job Description
Hearst is seeking a creative, proactive, collaborative editorial and communications director to manage content connections across the organization's consumer and B2B media divisions.
In this role, you'll work with colleagues across Hearst to identify and surface content from Hearst Newspapers, Television, Magazines, Health, Transportation and more to be shared and promoted across the Hearst network. You'll function as managing editor and marketer, reacting in real time to news events and the cultural zeitgeist as well as developing evergreen plans and surfacing ideas to brands to maximize their reach.
Reporting to the Vice President, Communications, the Hearst Harmony Editorial & Communications Director will ideally have 6-10 years of experience in editorial management or communications and a passion for storytelling.
This high-visibility role liaises internally with senior editorial colleagues around the organization as well as the broader communications team. Externally, you will identify and surface content for potential publicity in non-Hearst media.

Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience include:
- Proven track record of successful editorial and/or communications and public relations campaigns.
- Strong storytelling ability across channels, able to identify engaging content that can be shared across media platforms and brands.
- Ability to react to breaking news with innovative ideas that deliver positive results.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build relationships to move projects forward across divisions.
- Confidence while juggling multiple projects and priorities.
- Thorough, resourceful with excellent organizational skills and follow-through, attention to detail in all things.
- Good judgement and high standards.
- Ability to identify constructive solutions when issues arise.
- Understanding of Hearst businesses, values and culture and a collaborative spirit.
- Experience with analytical tools and content management systems.
- Excellent writing, proof-reading and editing skills.

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $150,000-$180,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
