The Education, Learning & Training (ELT) Specialist will work as part of a passionate and mission driven team to design and develop a variety of educational and assessment materials aligned with Transportation Safety. Â The ELT Specialist will be the liaison between client and technical teams and drive innovative solutions, leveraging best practices and practical adult education, learning, and training practices.Â
Supporting the US DOT Volpe Center, this position will require creative and strategic skills, as well as increased resourcefulness, the ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment, and the ability to share in the collective team vision. For more than 50 years, the U.S. DOT Volpe Center has been advancing transportation innovation for the public good, with a mission is to help the transportation community navigate its most challenging problems
Duties and responsibilities include:Â
. Perform education-based need assessments to determine necessary requirements for delivering proper educationÂ
. Contribute to ELT planning and scoping for new projectsÂ
. Design and develop training curriculum and content for adult end-users, including self-paced, web-based, and/or instructor led and Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) training, utilizing educational materials such as:Â
- ExercisesÂ
- Capstone materialsÂ
- Case studiesÂ
- Tutorials for various training topicsÂ
. Use style and procedure guides to ensure consistency across contentÂ
. Collaborate and proactively engage with teammates and cross-functional teams to effectively translate highly technical language into language end-users can easily understand and digestÂ
. Serve as a liaison between the project technical teams, communications team, and training and education team to ensure fluidity, collaboration, and coordinationÂ
. Review and provide feedback on assessment items and instructional support materialÂ
Requirements:Â
- Bachelor's degree + 3 or more years of relevant experienceÂ
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencer skillsÂ
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skillsÂ
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) with external clients and internal teams to assist in training delivery for projectsÂ
- Self-motivated and flexible with willingness to learnÂ
- Ability to work with minimal supervision or with uncertaintyÂ
- Must demonstrate a passionate commitment to delivering high-quality holistic education, learning, and training materialsÂ
- Ability to delegate to others with willingness to take ownershipÂ
- Ability to work calmly and constructively under deadline pressuresÂ
- Ability to manage and keep track of multiple tasks simultaneouslyÂ
- Must be organized and have superior attention to detailÂ
- Ability to see the âbig pictureâÂ

- Critical and creative thinkerÂ
- Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Adobe Captivate experience is desired but not requiredÂ
