Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of that progress in the fast moving and dynamic field of Electrification. The industry is advancing aggressively into this disruptive technology. Within Allison's Mechatronics group, there are numerous ways to learn and contribute as we develop propulsion solutions that meet the needs OEMs and end users.
The Power Electronics Intern will work with internal customers to identify requirements for the power electronics systems for Allison Transmission electrified systems. Based on these requirements, this engineer will serve will work with the internal team to design, develop and validate power electronic components.
Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain awareness of various power electronics supplier's development
- Contribute to electric vehicle system architecture design and provide component design requirements
- Develop component, sub-system and system test plans: determine experimental test and analytical methods and requirements that confirm or determine product requirements and specifications
- Author requests and support development activities with in-house and/or external build and test resources, and with analytical evaluations at component, sub-system and vehicle levels
- Support identification of product risks and further development activities to mitigate risks, resolve findings or improve designs
- Provide engineering technical support to transfer knowledge to production product development teams, OEMs and end users
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Plan to receive MS degree in Electrical Engineering
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, schematics and drawings
- Ability to use common measurement tools and techniques
- Proficient in written and verbal skills. Good communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present engineering and analysis results to various audience levels
- Some travel
Preferred:
- Experience with CAN based electronic controls and controller diagnostic tools
