York Space Systems LLC is seeking a talented EEE Component Failure Analysis Engineer to join the Electrical Systems team. The successful candidate will be an analytical thinker and life-long learner who continually seeks a deeper understanding and expertise in EEE Components for space environments. They must be attentive to detail and disciplined at documentation to ensure quality and maintainability in our products.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement electronic parts programs that ensure high-quality components perform as expected. This includes quality and reliability assessments and testing of passive and active Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts, components and assemblies.
  •  Simulate radiation environments for various orbits.
  •  Predict upset rates by combining environmental simulations with test data.
  •  Develop radiation test plans.
  •  Coordinate radiation testing with 3rd party support for single event effect and total ionizing dose testing.
  •  Advise hardware engineers on part selection and contribute to a Parts Control Board.
  •  Advise software and firmware engineers on SEE risks and mitigations.
  •  Assist in the identification of factors that drive reliability, and support quality objectives in design and development teams to drive improvements in reliability in design, manufacturing, and test.
  •  Perform deep-dive analysis into failure details to identify and understand the physics of failure mechanisms and modes.
  •  Develop analysis methods to determine survivability and availability of components and spacecraft in harsh radiation environments.
  •  Perform system-level analysis of radiation risk and develop charts and reports as needed to
  • Support program deliverables.
  •  Advise Business Development on radiation environment risks for bids and proposals.
  •  Assist in identification of alternate EEE parts in order to help meet mission schedules
  •  Present radiation mitigation strategies in a clear and concise manner to both internal and external stakeholders
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. or higher degree in reliability engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, physics, electrical engineering, applied engineering, or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with EEE part reliability, failure analysis, DPA, and qualification.
  • Understanding of EEE part design and construction, wafer fabrication, electronic packaging, electronic materials.
  •  Knowledge and deep understanding of radiation and it’s effect on EEE components.
  •  Direct experience working with commercial parts in radiation environments.
  •  Good understanding of the radiation physics relevant to electronic components.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact with customers, management, and peers.
  •  Ability to thrive in a collaborative “small-team” culture and environment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Python programming
  •  Experience with FPGAs.
  •  Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems.
  •  Knowledge of design techniques for radiation upset mitigation.
